I know the 88 model FLH's had them so it's a good bet that the Softails had them as well. Usually, the turn signal wires were grey in color. The had these little bands around them that indicated which side they went to. The violet marked wire goes to the right side signals and the brown marked wire goes to the left side. They did flash and I'm pretty sure they had the self cancelling turn signal unit on them. The unit is a "black box" unit about 1/2" thick by 1" wide by about an 1 1/2" long. It has a single plug on it. If you'll contact me directly at wd4ity@bellsouth.net , I'll send you a pin out and a trouble shooting guide. Remind me of what you need.

Good Luck
Steve

I'm trying to wire my 89 jeep wrangler to be towed useing it's existing lights.the turn signals both flash when right or left is on? I've tryed it under the dash with no luck now all the way...

If the brake and turn signal are on the same bulb than you can Orin straight wiring. If the brake and turn signal are on different bulbs than you'll need a wiring harness with a converter box. I'm pretty sure the wrangler has the brake and turn signal on the Same bulb so let's start with basic trailer wiring. The green wire on the trailer harness is for the right side turn and brake for the trailer. This wire should be attached to the wire on the vehicle that supplies power to the right turn signal/ brake light. The yellow wire is the left turn signal, brake light on the trailer and should be attached to the wire on the vehicle that supplies power to the left turn signal /brake light. The brown wire is the tail lights on the trailer and should be attached to either the left or right side wire on the vehicle that supplies power to the tail lights. The white wire is grounD and it is vitally important that this wire be attached to the vehicle in a manor that supplies a good ground. Failure to suppy a good ground will result in all kinds of funky problems with the trailerer lighting such as all the lights linking when the tail lights and turn signals are on at the same time. If you have any specific questions I will be more than happy to try and help. Good luck.

How do I connect a trailer hitch power plug to the break lights and tail lights to my 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe.

Under the vehicle by the tail lights locate the lights wiring and look for this colors.
it's only four colors white-ground point,brown-parking lights,yellow-left side turn signal light and green-right side turn signal.
you are going to need a test light to find the correct wire,if you can't locate the wiring unther the vehicle then remove the tail lights and do the connections there.

What color wire is the taillight/brake/signals?

With a test light see which wires are hot] with nothing on. then check with break pedal pressed, and then check again with turn signals on. This will help u isolate the hot wire to the light you are looking for.

How to wire for a hitch behind the bike for a trailer with lights

Wiring a motorcycle for a trailer is exactly like wiring a car or truck for a trailer hitch. You have to determine what type of lights you want on your trailer. You brake lights, turn signals, and tail lights. So, you get yourself a test light and connect the alligator clip to a good ground.

Now, on the backside of your rear fender is all the wires going to your brake light / tail light assembly and your turn signal lights. Now, I don't have a schematic for a late model FLH but it used to be the red wire was the brake light, the green wire was the tail light and you had a brown wire for one turn signal and a purple wire for the other side. The turn signal wires were actually gray wires with little brown or purple "bands" around the wire out near the bulb.

Step on the brake and use your tester to probe the wires until on lights up. Release the brake to verify the correct wire for the brake lights. Now turn on the right turn signal and probe the wires until you find one blinking. That's the right turn signal wire. Do the same thing to find the left turn signal wire. Now, you shouldn't have very many wires left. So, turn on the headlight and probe until you find a wire that lights up the tester. Now, at this point you should know which wire is which on your bike.

The trailer should have come with a wiring diagram. If not, you'll have to look at the light sockets on the trailer. You should see at least four colored wires. There should be one color wire on one light that is not on the other side light. These are turn signal wires. One color to the right, one color to the left side. Now the other two colors should go to both lights. One color is the brake light wire and the other is the tail light wire.

Now, that you have all the wires identified, simply buy the little connectors and start connecting the proper wires to each other. You'll be trailiering in no time. Good Luck and ride safe

I need to hook up a boat trailor Whats the color code for a 1995

I suspect that the 4 wire harness includes a ground, so you may not be able to connect both brake lights and turn signals, which are separate lamps on the pickup. You may need to get an adapter.

In any case, the color codes on the pickup are:

Tail lights -- pink/blue
Brake Lights -- green/yellow
Left turn signal -- gray/blue
Right turn signal -- gray/red
Ground -- black

I'm trying to replace the tail lights on my motor home which is built on a for econoline chasis (1988) when I took the old ones off a lot of the wires were pulled out of the assembly or just rusted off. ...

Reconnecting a 7 wire circuit.....I presume you have located the rear JUNCTION BOX, or HARNESS splice.... At the lights wiring.
1. YELLOW = LH Turn signal
2. RED= STOP Lights
3. WHITE= Ground
4. BLACK= LH Tail Light/# plate lamp
5. BLUE [If available] Auxiliary Power Supply
6. GREEN= RH Turn signal
7.BROWN=RH Tail Lights
Depending on style you may find that the LH and RH Tail lamp colours are the same.[ie] Both Brown or both Black.
Best of luck in your endevours.
