Hi Wags1955, you have a hard/dead short that should be easy to find generally they are the easiest. Time to get out your test light and start tracking the wire from the power side of the circuit breaker or the blown fuse receiver, when the test light quits lighting you are very close to your short. not only headlight is energised when the key is turned on,so it could be anything on the switch, dont just replace it over and over, your wire harness will continue to acrue damage. Check for fuse purpose, then look at that circuit for damage
Tail light may be blown or be grounding out.(may be the problem)

SOURCE: I have a dead short

Remove the headlight from the nachele or the housing. Inspect the headlight "pig tail' . I've seen the plug get hot and melt on the backside of the light.

I've just changed every single fuse on my Wr125r and bike started up fine I weren't sure what the problem could of been at first I noticed headlight blown I changed it fuse blown again

Hi, Peter if your headlight is not working, only one beam works, keeps burning out, blinking, or is dim the first thing you need to check is the headlight bulb for damaged filaments then check your light circuit fuse, then check your head light bulb socket ground wire for a clean tight connection, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty ground or power supply wire to headlight bulb socket.
2. Worn down solder contacts or loose fit of the bulb base in the socket due to vibration.
3. Worn, chaffed, or broken wires in the light circuit.
4. Corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets in wire connectors.
5. Faulty hi/lo beam switch.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Fuse is good but no continuity on both sides.
8. Faulty wiring between battery positive and headlight bulb socket.
9. Weak charging alternator/generator.
10. Faulty voltage regulator/rectifier ground or overcharging.

Why don't my headlights work on my 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis?

Low Beam, and High Beam both are not working? There is a fuse you can check, review your owners manual for location, also could be headlight switch itself? Please check bulbs before expensive diagnosis...some times both bulbs blow out at the same time:( Hope this helps.

Prius headlights work only on highbeam

There should be separate fuses for high and low beams on a Prius. If one of your headlight bulbs is bad, it could have blown the low-beam fuse. Check for blown fuses behind driver's side headlight fuse panel. If new one blows, replace headlight bulbs and try again.

On 2004-2009 Prius, driver's side headlamp bulb can be replaced by removing hold down screws and folding fuse panel upward to access rear of headlight assembly. Large round cover with 3 tabs unscrews about 1/4 turn to remove. It's really tight and held by friction of large O-ring so it'll take some muscle but it will eventually give. Be careful replacing bulbs as metal clips can be easily installed incorrectly resulting in tilted headlight beam. 3-tabs must rest on flat surfaces on mounting area before spring clip can be latched in place. 3-prong plug can be wiggles sideways/up and down to remove from bulb.

My lights for a ford escape 2001 wont work

check under the hood for black box, lift the cover off of black box, marked" main fuse and relay boxfuse positions should be marked on underside of the lid to main fuse panel box, that you have just removed.check for a blown headlamp fuse in that box. it's either a blown fuse in that box,or if only one headlights "out" it will be a blown bulb(headlight bulb) it's very unusual for both headlight bulbs to blow at once. so in saying that, look for a blown headlight fuse. thank you for choosing fixya.com.

I have a 1992 toyota paseo have changed the fuel pump and the fuel relay and it is still blowing the 15 amp fuse for the ignigtion can figure out why. thnx for the help

You may have a blown ignition module or a short at the coil, that's where this circuit goes. What I like to do when I run into a instantly blowing fuse, is wire in a headlight bulb to where the fuse normally is. A headlight has pretty low resistance so if you wire it in place of the fuse, it will pass enough current to operate most things that the fuse is there to protect if there was no short. With the bulb in place, you can go around the car wiggling wires and unplugging devices until you see the headlight go out, that means you have removed the short circuit and likely found what is blowing the fuse.

Hi,welcome to fix ya. what happens is water gets in the headlight lens and migrates into the igniter for the HID bulb that is bolted to the bottom of the lens and shorts it out. you will need to replace the inverter/igniter and the lens to cure this problem.
