2004-HD Sportster883 will not downshift below 3rd gear. any ideas?

ok typo day, 3RD (D is below E) got it.
now and answer and told here 10000 times and googled 1million times. or more
check all fuses
then scan the PCm (TCM) for DTC errors then we look them up in the real service manual and amazing it tells you what to do next
as in LOTS more tests with meters and gauges.
stuck in 3rd gear means what.?

1. shift lever stuck (as in will no move.
2. in drive, car starts off in 3rd gear, now that be rare. but possible.
3. in reverse cars goes forward but in 3rd gear.
4. or coasting the transmission never goes below 3rd gear called engine transmission natural braking actions and auto downshift features. happens foot off gas pedal.
5. or means overdrive or TCC lockup failing?

A/t boxes do lots of things, even wrong, but not told clearly here.

Sounds like a failed transaxle

You drive 20 miles or use a vehicle for days like
that,you ruined it,period,no relearn will fix internal
damage

Not many transaxle's see 100,000 miles or ten years

Are you SURE you are not shifting too soon?

Check the transmission computer

Best Manuals I honestly suggest you to not waste money on repairs. They're never satisfying and mechanics don't keep you in the loop very much. Try manuals and doing it yourself, you'll know better, and can also judge better.

Do you mean upshifting starts way early? Going from 2nd to 3rd in other words?
Ireally don't know your transmission,but the alternator problem might've possibly spiked and hurt your shifting solenoids in the ******. don-ohio (:^)

Take off with it in 2nd, and see if you even have 2nd gear. If not, your transmission needs servicing.

Did you rev the motor to time it with the downshift? Otherwise you got what's called downshift rubber, not good for the trans or final drivebelt.
