Size does not convert to h.p. You need RPM, compression ratio, efficiency, crank shaft length, number of cylinders and efficiency, valve spring force constant, valve weight, and many other variables. Horsepower is normally measured with a dynomometer (dyno). It is not calculated.

I have a 2002 HD 1200 Custom Sportster and I have lost compression in both cyclinders at the same time. Rode the bike and it ran fine. 2 weeks later I got on the bike and started it up and one cyclind

Changing spark plugs will not affect compression unless you put in the wrong reach plug and it hit and damaged a piston. Sounds more like stuck valves, bent pushrods, broken rockers, or cam drive problems.

Depending on the age/mileage and how it is/has been driven I would say anywhere from about 100 to 140 PSI. The big thing is not a great difference between the two cylinders. Anything lower and there is wear etc. and anything higher and the engine carboned up.

Are you sure... check the exhause temp on the pipe, it should be cold coming out of the head.. Then run compression test and both cylinders should be within 5 lbs of each other.

My front cylinder is not firing. I replaced plugs

hi you must check compression first should be same as other cyl. if not check for tight tappet if ok is the plug sparking if you hold it against cyl and turn over motor if good spark put it back and turn over motor few times then remove it and see if its wet with fuel if its not could be carby blocked jet

Have you done a compression test on all cylinders? My guess is you have a dead cylinder (no oil to one or more cylinders causing loss of power). If the compression test passes (all cylinders equal and higher than 100-110 psi) you have a restricted exhaust from a failed catalytic converter that has broken apart.

I have 1200 bandit with fuel getting into oil

Check the Compression in all 4 cylinders, if the compression is low on one cylinder, squirt some oil or or WD40 down the bore and immediately recheck the compression. If the pressure goes up a fair bit you have a broken ring, if not you could have a burnt valve. If your getting fuel in the oil it definately sounds like a ring problem

Have you done a compression test on it. Try that. It also could be a valve, electrical or fuel problem.
