Question about 2005 Honda CRF 150 F

1 Answer

I have a 2008 CRF150F. It sat for about six months with gas in the carb, First attempt at starting did not work. I took the carb apart and cleaned all the jets etc...Cleaned the idle set screw and reinstalled. (all the way in and then 1 and a half turns out) Now the bottom end works fine. Idles well and first half of the throttle is fine. As soon a you apply more throttle it bogs down and sputters. What needs to be adjusted to make it run throughout the throttle range?

You should dip the carb in chem dip, avalible at most auto parts stores. Before you dip you need to take all plastic parts off carb and do not dip them, Take your jets out of carb and dip them too, with all the other metal parts of carb. If you are a welder or have access to welding store you should get welding tip cleaner, wich has a bunch of tinny toothpic looking things you can push through the small opening jets to unclog better. also use carb cleaner and highly compressed air to clean out those jets, sounds like your main jet is clogged. I also hope you changed gas in tank.

The Scooter was only ridden for 63miles around neighborhood. Then sat for about six months now wont start was told gas could be old. What to do

Best bet would be to empty the fuel left in it then buy some fuel stabilizer and refill fill the tank with good gas also check the battery and fuses.

Yamaha r50 The bike has been left for 6 months was running fine, but has just been sat there ever since. It won't start with the button it trys but it isn't going to. I have managed to bump it had it...

Sounds like the gas went bad and plugged up the idle jets in the carb.

When gas sits too long, it's components start to separate (simplistic explanation), and turns almost into a varnish.

This starts plugging up things, starting with the smallest orifice, which is the idle circuit.

Take carb apart, and clean out idle circuit.
Clean/replace idle jet.

I have a 2011 Taotao 110 Chinese made 4 wheeler. We bought it in march of 2011 and my son rode it maybe five or six times then it sat in the garage for probably six months. So we decided to get it back out...

Could be ignition, could be compression etc. Lots to check before wasting money on the fluid that has been under the ground for millions of years. Why people think it goes bad, I am not sure!

Problems with starting i spite of strong battery. Can it be carburator problems? The cycle was nor active for 6 months and in very cold climate.

If you are using fuel with ethanol and it sat for six months, the carb jets and passages are gummed and clogged. Rather than an expensive teardown and manuel carb cleaning, I recommend putting 1/4 to 1/2 can of SeaFoam in the gas tank. Lock the front brake and rock the bike back and forth for a minute or two to mix it with the gas. Crank the engine and run at high idle for a few minuets, shut it off and let set giving the mixture time to work. Crank back up and repeat running at high idle.

Even if your gas doesn't have ethanol, it can gum up with storage that long. You can use a full can of SeaFoamto tank of fuel if necessary.

I recommend 1/4 can for 5-10 gallons as a normal additive for running.

YardMachine snowblower 22" did start,

I would suggest that you replace or rebuild carb.if you decide too rebuild take carb off and take apart and soak it in mineral spirits andf blow it out with air.strip a bread tie and use the wire too clean out the passages in carb.put in new parts from rebuild kit and reinstall.if this does not work you will have to replace with new one.

Yamaha TTR 125 L won't idle

this is very tipical. when bikes are stored the fuel varishes up the jets & needles. soak the carb. moving it back and forth in the soak solution. then blow every jet and orfice with a controlled air source. note: any speck of rust or dirt can plug these jets. pay attention to detail and do every thing twice. then install the carb and adjust it to your riding style. later Spike

Start and die

Fill up the gas tank, clean the fuel filter, and then check to see if your carb jets are clean. Remove the jets from the carb and attempt to look through them in the light. If you cannot see light through them they need another cleaning.

Bogging down

got my side stand switch fixed and took her out for a spin and had yet another problem. When im riding it and take off it kinda sputters unless i crack it all the way open and then it runs out great. It seems that the problem is is just like at half throttle taking offit just sputters. A ny suggestins? The bike had sat for about six months before i got it. also VR 2000 Enduro Your carbs are clogged somewhere because the gas sat so long -- it turns to varnish over time and it likely has clogged your low-speed jets. (When you crack it open it's on the main jet and gets enough fuel.) You should get a product called SeaFoam, which can help clear carbs. If that doesn't work, you'll need to take the carbs apart and clean out the little passages. ,,,
