Did you forget a ground wire attachment? Recheck your engine grounds.
Each coil should get power on the black/white from the ignition switch, constant battery voltage. Does it? If not, check fuse 24, a 10 amp fuse in the Junction Block. Power travels from the ignition switch (in ON, RUN, or START) to this fuse, and then is spliced to each coil. Other than that, the PCM controls the current switching for the coils (for spark). The other wire from the coil (black?) goes to the pcm for earthing the primary current to the coils.

If the coils have power but no spark, it could be the crankshaft position sensor. I believe the crank sensor would be more important than the camshaft sensor for the pcm to figure spark timing.

The engine bogged down and shut down. the ip lights came on before the engine shut down cannot re start


Sounds as if you lost electrical if the panel light really came on first. Would be nice to know what you are working on since there have been major problems with ignition switches on some models. Check for power to the switch, coil or fuse block. Blown fusible link can do this as can failed relay, fuse, ign switch, etc. If car died as if it was running out of fuel, check pressure with test guage.

Have you checked fuses ? The Instrument panel fuse block , Fuse Block - I/P
LH of the I/P, near the door jamb switch - LF , fuse # 7 HDLPSW 10amp.
In the underhood fuse / relay box - Headlamp power relay , RT HDLP fuse 15amp LTHDLP fuse 15amp.
Battery positive voltage to the headlamp switch is supplied by the HDLP SW fuse in the IP fuse block. When the headlamp switch is in the HDLP position, the headlamp power relay coil is energized. A voltage signal is also sent to the body control module (BCM) signaling that the headlamp switch is activated. The headlamp power relay coil is grounded at G102. When the headlamp power relay is energized, the relay supplies battery voltage to the LT HDLP and RT HDLP fuses. Both low beam headlamps are grounded by the multifunction headlamp dimmer switch in the low beam position through the normally closed headlamp grounding relay in the body relay block to G200.
High Beams-Except ZR2 Battery positive voltage to the headlamp switch is supplied by the HDLP SW fuse in the IP fuse block. When the headlamp switch is in the HDLP position, the headlamp power relay coil is energized. A voltage signal is also sent to the body control module (BCM) signaling that the headlamp switch is activated. When the headlamp switch is in the AUTO or PARK position and the ambient light sensor detects darkness, the BCM produces a voltage signal that will also energize the headlamp power relay. The headlamp power relay coil is grounded at G102. When the headlamp power relay is energized, the relay supplies battery voltage to the LT HDLP and RT HDLP fuses. The RH high beam headlamp receives current directly from the RT HDLP fuse. When the headlamp switch is in the HDLP position, the BCM removes the ground path to the headlamp grounding and DRL relay coils. This allows current to flow to the LH high beam headlamp through the normally closed contacts of the DRL relay. Both high beam headlamps are grounded by the multifunction headlamp dimmer switch in the high beam position through the normally closed contacts in the headlamp grounding relay to G200. A ground signal is also sent to the BCM in order to confirm high beam operation.

Brand new msd6al & blaster2 ignition coil no power to coil


Power comes directly from the ignition switch. Two different wires power it. The run wire and the start wire. Check fuses? Relays? Could be just a bad wire up by the coil. No year,make or model. Older vehicles have a resistor that can blow.

I have a 92 Honda accord wagon does not get power to coil. Distritutor Or fuel pump. Coil and distributor are both new. Any idea what it could be Thanks Rob


Check your maxi fuses in the under hood fuse/relay box. The black/yellow wire to the coil is directly from the ignition switch-it should be hot in run.
Fuse # 15 is an 80 amp fuse, and fuse #19 is a 50 amp fuse. Both of these supply the ignition switch with power.

I will try to help, powell. Your start circuit from battery to ignition switch to starter-and back to battery. You may need to check every thing here, including the grounds, for a loose connection, or just possibly a failing part.
If only complaint is intermittent starter action, and no other problems with ignition switch, let's assume switch is good, so battery to ignition switch is good. Now from the switch, a yellow start wire goes to the instrument panel fuse block, to "crank" fuse #8 (10 amp), from there a purple wire goes to the safety switch. If manual it is a clutch pedal position switch (simple on/off switch-when clutch down switch is on). If automatic, purple wire goes to Transmission Range Switch on the transm.-in park or neutral the purple wire has continuity in and out of switch.
From that switch, the purple wire goes to the starter relay (under hood fuse-relay center). Now the relay: purple wire in start will energize the relay- wire goes to coil side of relay, and then coil side goes to ground. On relay power side, the power feed is a red wire-and it is the same red wire that initially sends power to the ignition switch. A 40 amp fuse in fuse-relay center sends power to ignition switch, and a splice goes to the starter relay as the power feed for relay. When relay is energized, contacts close, and power is sent from relay to the starter solenoid, again on a purple wire. When solenoid contacts close, starter motor is connected to the big battery cable on the starter.

There is your start circuit. try a new or different relay, try a new or test the clutch switch (or transm. range switch). Buy a $5 test light and use it to check where power is lost when starter won't operate. Hold key in start and check if fuse #8 is getting power. Check the safety switch, with key held in start, the purple wire should be hot. Check if relay has a power feed (pull relay out and check terminals) and if relay coil has a power signal in start. Check the relay's coil side ground. If that ground is intermittent, relay won't work.
When it won't start, use a test light, you should be able to find it.

Zxr750l no spark at plugs but have power to coils. kill switch ok, coils ok. have checked side stand switch, fuses good. any help please.


You say you proved power to the coil but there is no spark at the end of the spark plug wire ... have you checked that spark plug wire? Could be very high resistance or open ...

Is there a inline fuse from the ignition switch to the ignition coil?


no sir
not from the switch to the coil.
the coil does not get power from the switch.
the switch turns relays on that powers the coils.
but there is an ignition fuse.
the ignition switch turns on power relays from the battery that powers the ignition system.
the ignition system fuse is in the fuse box.

find the coils and check the terminals with a tester to see if power is getting to them. if it is then it could be the coils or ht leads/ caps
if no power at coil then problem is between battery and coil or in the kill switch. check all ground / earth terminals you can find also
