Yes it is, you can pull the fiberglass out of there, but it doesn't change the sound at all. It is just a heat shield, the internals have to be cut to change the sound, if that is what you are after. I tried it with my bike. I had to wrap it back up and put it back, the heat was unbearable. Stock aluminum pipes. Check it out.

How do you take the muffler off

On most cars, if it is the original muffler, it will be welded into the exhaust system. You would need to cut the muffler out of the system with a pipe cutter, hacksaw, or torch to remove it. Aftermarket mufflers are installed with clamps. Those must be removed in order to remove the muffler. Even then, the clamps will crimp the pipes together and you often have the chisel the muffler collars off the exhaust pipe to remove.

Hanging muffler

There are a number of add-on brackets to support a muffler. All they use is a strap with a U-clamp that is the size of the pipes and a mount that fastens to the frame.
You would need to know a safe place to possibly drill a hole for the mounting bolt on the mounting end of the hanger. You could just have a torn rubber strap and may be able to use the old mounting hole once the original bolt is removed.

Remove the Torx screws holding the rear cover on. Then remove the larger Torx screws holding the muffler on to the exhaust port of the cylinder. There will be a gasket there. The spark arrestor will be mounted in the opening to the muffler. You can scrape or burn the carbon off of it. If the spark arrestor is real clogged up, then the muffler probably is too. It should also be cleaned. The inside of the engine probably is carboned up too( if arrestor and muffler are). They all should be cleaned of carbon. It helps the engine perform at its' best and breathe like it needs to.

I can get it to run but its spits out alot of fuel from behind the carb

Sounds like you have either a clogged muffler ( carbon and oil residue) or a stopped up spark arrestor screen inside the muffler....remove the muffler and scrape the gunk out of the inside and clean the screen....while the muffler is off try starting the machine and see if it runs properly...if it does then you know it's the muffler !!! Hope this helps ;-D

Trimmer runs on half choke only

It's the muffler. Everyone thinks fuel, carburetor, mixture. They're wrong. The muffler is clogged and the unit can't be tuned to high throttle until you clean it.

Steps: Remove the back housing to access the muffler. You may want to remove the gas tank to avoid a spill. Remove the muffler (2 large screws). Remove the muffler door (3 small screws). The screen should be cleaned using a pin (poke out any hardened material). Most important: The muffler door is 2 parts. Pry it apart and scrape off the burnt carbon that is clogging the exhaust path. Re-assemble and start.

Stalls out

This is usually caused by a stopped up muffler. Remove the muffler and see if this makes a difference. If it runs smoothly without the muffler then you must clean the "kook" out of it. This is done one of two ways. If you have a torch, even a portable handheld one, you can burn the muffler clean on the inside by removing it from the equipment, placing it on a burnproof surface and aiming the torch inside the muffler, letting it burn for 7 to 10 mins.
Also you can build a fire either outside if you live in an area this is allowed or in your fireplace if you have one, and just toss the muffler into the fire. This will remove the carbon buildup in the muffler, Just remember...LET THE MUFFLER COOL COMPLETELY ON IT'S OWN NOT DIP IN WATER as this will warp it and it will no longer seal tightly to the engine. This should solve your problem.
