Hey ive got a 91 rm 250. I can feel the pressure llate being pulled out when i pull the clutch lever but when i put the bike in gear it immeaditly stalls. I tried using a lower viscosity oil amd sanding...

Replace the steel plates you sanded down. These wear down as they are being used, so you have basically taken a couple of years use off them. You might want to make sure the engine is breathing properly- petrol and air filters. If the engine is stalling when you put it in gear then the engine is either not running right or there is a safety cutout switch somewhere that is telling you the sidestand is down. Also check you have the idle set properly.

Very hard to start first time

1.) remove spark plug and degrease it, then lightly sand the gap
2.) spray starter fluid inside the cylinder and quickly replace the plug and wire
3.) start the bike again

Hi im just wondering what the fuel mixture should be for my 1996 rm 250 ? thanks mark

For a 250, you can get away with a leaner mix like 40:1 but I still race a 250 2-stroke from time to time for fun and I run 32:1. More oil = less friction, less heat, better sealing, etc...

Any idea what it was jetted to run? the difference between 40:1 and 32:1 is fairly minimal and if the bike is jetted fairly well I doubt you will tell a difference. If the plug is black it is too rich.

Who often do i change the oil on a kx250

If you race this bike then I would suggest at the end of every full race meet dump the oil and filter as apart of the clean down to put away for next race day routine obviously fill it back up when due to race next
If your just recreational use and not going on the rev limiter all day long then about every 2 - 4 hours of running time would be OK
simple rule of thumb with the four stroke Motocross bikes if you love the bike and you can afford it change the oil as much as possible you cannot change to often in my opinion (just don't over tighten the sump plug just nipped up is fine)
cheers mate happy riding

Hi ive got a 2003 rm 250 ive just changed the crank shaft seal and the bike is still smoking but not as bad cud i have oil in my packing in my back box of my exhaust or have i another problem? And the bike...

I would suggest doing a compression check and checking the results against your manual (should be at least 165PSI or so. Low compression will make the bike run rich which would make it smoke excessively. It would also make it hard to start and run poorly with low power. New rings could do wonders.

Need help!!! Please Ive got a 2003 rm 250 and ive just changed the crank seal and ive put the bike back together and it selects 1st gear and it will go into neutral but it wont go up to select 2nd 3rd...

Sound like you have reasembled something Incorectly, poss selector fork not located on pin, either way i think you are going to have to strip it again, always good practice to try all the gears on the bench, after asembling the crank cases, you could check the gear shaft is located properly in the. Sospension original set up

The best way to set up your suspension is to have someone hold the bike while your on it. Then a thrid person to watch. You with your feet on the pegs jump down on it with out sitting on seat. This thrid person is there to watch to make sure that the bike will rebound or come back to normal, with both the front and rear coming up at the same time. As far as the best set up, it is all a weight thing. Keep it where it is take to woods, if you don't like it adjust it. Keep doing this until you like it. It took me 2 days on my bike just to race one Harescramble.
