SOURCE: drive chain goes loose and tight on back wheel turn

No.That was the problem. The chain and the sprockets needed to be renewed.
When you will take, the rear sprocket's base, off the axle check it's bearing.Just put your finger in and turn it slowly to see if it "locks" instantly. It will be nice if you renew it now that you disassembling the chain drive system.

SOURCE: need to tighten drive chain

No it doesn't need to be off the ground.

But, remember that when you are sitting on the bike and the suspension is compressed there is less slack in the chain, so don't tighten the chain too much. Tighten it until you have an inch and a half / 3-4cm of slack in the mid point of the chain between the front and rear sprockets.

Trayl bike owners manual. or how do I adjust the height of the handle bars?

Your bike has a modern "threadless headset" which usually allows very little vertical adjustment. See this page for an explanation of how to change height on that style:
How to adjust handlebar height BikeRadar
If you can't adjust enough that way you can try buying a shorter stem or one with a steeper angle,. The final option is to buy a "stem riser" - Google the term for more info - needs to have correct dimensions for your bike

It's best to get advice at a bike shop as to what option is best for you..

Adjust handlebar height on Schwinn Varsity

I'm answering 7 years later. I have a Schwinn Varsity 2500 Bike made probably in 2015. The Schwinn Varsity Bike is not set up the same way as a traditional bike. I loosened the center compression bolt and the two side stem clamp bolts and it came loose where I can adjust it up or down but, there's nothing to tighten the slack up below. I did some research. My original post here was to add or remove a spacer. I think you can remove a spacer to lower but, I don't think the stem is long enough to add another one. I've seen they sell an extension that you can add-on to make the handle bars higher.

Honda VTR 1000 F Super Hawk Oil Starvation in LONG WHEELIES?

Hi Rich, for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix or parts inquiry. If necessary transport your vehicle to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your issue. Good luck and have a nice day.

How do I adjust my headlight on my GL 1500 Honda Gold Wing when the lowbeam is too low and the high beam is too high ?

Sitting on your bike on the left hand side there is a round knob to the right of your left hand mirror. This is your beam adjustment knob. Holding bike up straight night you can adjust your beam up and down. But like the other reply said you may have to replace your bulbs. This is done by pulling the rubber on your mirrors toward the mirrors Then pull the plastic piece toward your mirror. At this point there are 2 levers on each side of the dash next to the mirrors. Lift them up. You will see the front chrome piece loosen. This actually is to raise or lower you windshield but it will make your job easier. Now on each side where you pulled the plastic back you will see 2 screws on each side. One in the chrome piece and one in the plastic grille. Remove all 4.Remove both. Then on the lower plastic grille you will see 2 screws in side the grille. remove these and your lower grille will come out. Now you will see The screws that will remove the headlight assembly. Remove bulbs. I can't remember it they come out from the back or if you remove the clips on the glass and they come out from the front. Then put back in reverse order. Dont for get to push the 2 side leavers back down. The hardest part is getting the rubber back in place around your mirrors. This is also how you replace your windshield. Hope this helps. Kenny

I have just got a Kawasaki super spoert xi which starts and runs but is throwing out far far too much smoke and oil out of the exhaust - after just a minute running there is a big pool of oil(two cycle) on...

If I remember correctly that bike is oil injected, if so you probably have an adjustment issue with the injection pump. You should bring it to the dealer to have it reset, unless you have a shop manual and a reasonable understanding on oil injection.

Good Luck.

Adjust the valves

older bikes use screw and locknut, so pop off the rocker cover, bring each cylinder to tdc, (with all the plugs out).you can do this by lifting your bike of the ground and turning the rear wheel while its in first gear. with a feeler gauge, make sure there is about .004" -.008" clearance between the tappet and the valve stem, exhaust and intake.if not sure about where the tdc is , its when both tappets are the loosest. any questions , mail me

doulbe check the grounds, & you might need to add and extra ground wire to the bike, closer to the starter. This should help. There is a valve that release the compression when you kick it off.You might see if you can pull this release the compression valve while pushing the start button????
