Question about Honda Fusion Motorcycles

2 Answers

Used 2002 Honda Metropolitan II scooter (not in model list) Rode five miles and then the turn signals quit. Shut it off at store and when restarting, had to kick start it. Battery at 100% charge and all fuses good. Mechanic is stumped. Signal flasher ok. First turning on ignition after replacing the battery with a freshly charged one, there was a rapid clicking from the rear of the seat - that has stopped (not the fuel pump, that's working normally) Electric starter won't engage (ignition on, run switch on, hand brake in) Starter/turn signal problem is persisting. I think the brake light also inop. (it's been in the shop for a week) Any suggestions I can pass on to the mechanic?

Don't see how that would account for the turn signals working 6-8 time in the first 4 miles of a five mile ride then quitting while the bike is running. Is the turn button hot or does it complete a circuit to ground? Would a short to ground in the wiring harness engage the solenoid without activating the starter? (If the turn button is hot, I assume a short would blow a fuse?)

I don't see well enough to work on the bike myself, I've taken it to the shop that I bought it from and they won't be open again until Tuesday. (Not a Honda dealer so he's not up to speed on that brand) Let me get back to you after I talk to him again.

One of many main connectors has either come loose or a crimp connection in one of the main power circuits is corroded, have the tech pull and twist the wiring harness to see if it does anything to indicate the problem is in the area u are bending and pulling on, work all around the harness, there is no MAGIC fix for problems like this, have fixed this type of problem 100's of times over my 45 year career, never the same from one problem to the next. Also have him pull apart all the main connectors and check for greenish looking corrosion, repair as needed

The starter has a starter solenoid under the seat. If it is clicking which would make sense to be the solenoid. The solenoid clicking would suggest the start button stuck. Usually when the start button is stuck on then it shuts off power to other things. So the starter gets full battery. I would say that your problem is in the start button.

The starter solenoid I don't think is fused. The button would not necessarily be hot. The wire going to the battery would be hot. I don't know. I wish I had the scooter here. These kind of problems are my favorite. It is just hard to get all of the details and info on here and not be able to check things with a meter or test light. Maybe I could help more if I talked to you on the phone. If you want to email vetteman3002@gmail.com I will email you my phone number and maybe with more info I could help more.

2002 Honda metropolitan won't run got spark to plug an gas to the carb I reset ecm spins over but no attempt to start also headlight doesn't work but getting fire to the plug an bulb works with jumper

Hi, Lewis and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Fuel line to carburetor or throttle body pinched or kinked.
8. Carburetor float stuck.
9. Fuel injectors clogged.
10. Severely discharged or damaged battery, you need 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
11. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
12. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and CDI box.
Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting check for leakage in the dark, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
13. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty MAP, CKP, O2, TPS, sensors.
14. Faulty neutral, clutch lever, or kickstand safety switch.
15. Faulty fuel pump or fuse or relay.
16. Faulty CDI box.
17. A stuck bent or burnt valve.
18. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
19. Check for engine trouble codes.

Starts and runs but will only go 25 top end and 10 going up a hill. I cleaned carb, and changed plug. Filter good. Any help about how what to try next?

Dennis, Write up found in scooter guide.net link below. This scooter was restricted to 25mph via a series of restrictions to the variator, ECU, intake and camshaft. 2009 was the last model year for this CHF50 in Canada and the USA, although this scooter was available for a few years after this due to excess inventory from the 2009 crash of the scooter market.
You can have it modified at a shop probably $$.
Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Honda metropolitan 05 Met II blowing 15 amp fuse

Did the scooter start OK when you first started it after bringing it out of storage, or did you have to use the kick starter? Maybe the battery is faulty and is pulling a lot of power.
Check the charge rate with an ammeter (use a multimeter that can measure 20 Amps DC) and see if the current exceeds the 15A rating of the fuse. If it does, replace the battery.
