Hi, Anonymous for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: V-Star Tune Up

the stuff it came with is just fine. your bike shop where you buy the oil from will give you what they deem best for your bike, oil weights depend on where you are and ride. a K&N airfilter will help it breath better than the standard one but it wont do much for the performance. i have jardine pipes on mine i believe it was re-jetted when the previous owner installed them but i run a standard air cleaner and all is fine.

SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

SOURCE: how do you adjust the height of the front suspension on a 2007 1100 v star? mine bottoms out when stopping or bumpy roads.

It's not adjustable. If you need more damping you can change the fork oil to a heavier weight. Put 15w instead of 10w for example. You could also put stiffer springs inside your forks. Rather large job. You could also put a spacer either on top or under the springs you have to get the effect of stiffer springs without actually changing it. Also a large job, but less expensive than new springs. Finally, check your fork seals. If the seals are bad you should see oil leaking from them and that would cause loss of damping.

SOURCE: Yamaha 1100 Drag Star 2001 Custom motor starter,

These parts are fairly reliable. Rather than buying new, you should be able to pick one up from a motorcycle breaker who will post it to you. I would expect to pay about £60-£100 tops in the UK (Depending on mileage). ANy Yamaha dealer will be happy to order you one new, but they are a hell of a price!

SOURCE: Can Synthetic blend oil be used with a Yamaha 1100

Yes, Yamaha makes regular,semi-,and full synthetic oil for there motorcycles. Make sure the oil you use is JASO MA certified for motorcycle use. Do not use any oil that says energy conserving, it will shorten the life of your clutch and drive gears. Amzoil and Mobile 1 both make good motorcycle oil (full synthetic). Full synthetic is often the same price as semi-synthetic.
