Three quarts the check it on the dip stick. The top mark is "FULL HOT" with the lower mark being "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between these two marks. Do not overfill.

On all Sportsters, the primary oil is also the transmission lubricant. Put approx. one quart of oil in the primary, H-D Syn 3 20W50 synthetic engine oil.
