The best way to tell if u are burning oil is to pull the plugs if they havent been recently changed and take a look to see if there is carbon built up or caked on the electrode. Its very possible with that mileage that u could have a valve seal leak. Have a local shop or dealer perform a cylinder leak down test, that should give u a good idea where the oil is making its way through to the cylinder. If it all looks good and ur not using something like Syn3 or Amsoil ect, I would investigate if the oil is ok for that motor. Good luck!

I have a Briggs stratton 14 hp ohv I/c quiet model 287707. I had a guy change the oil & he put 10W30 synthetic oil in it. Now it smokes white smoke really bad. I think he put the wrong oil in

There is a very real difference between 30W and 10W30 oil. Whether it's synthetic or not probably doesn't matter. If you have the literature that came with the mower, it will tell you the recommended engine oil.
If they put in the wrong oil, they should make it right. You shouldn't have to pay twice for an oil change. It could be burning oil, since 10W30 is a lower viscosity than 30W. I would have them change it again, and see if it stops smoking.

What engine oil should i use in my vectra 2003 sri 2.2 ? I have been using full synth 5w/40 but am having to top up every 100 miles or so with no smoke, leaks, or ****** oil ?

if you got to add oil every 100 miles and no smoke then you have to have a leak... for that much of a leak, and nothing visible try wiping down the oil pan and placing paper under it to help spot where the oil is coming from, kinda sounds like for that much of an oil leak that it will be oil pan gasket or drain plug loose... just a guess

Grey blue smoke from exhaust it goes after a few miles what is it

Blue'ish smoke is caused by burning oil. Sounds like you have hardened valve stem seals. When they get hard, they allow oil to seep into the cylinders while it sits over night. When you start the car it takes a little while to burn out the oil. In the early stages once you are running it will seal up OK, but as time goes by it will begin to seep even while you are running. Using full synthetic may help the smoke because the synthetic oil will not burn. You can also go 10,000 miles between changes. (Watch your oil level though since you will not be changing every 3000).

Hope this helps.

2008 6.4 f350. blowing tons of blue smoke for the last 12 months

Blue smoke means burning oil. Black smoke means running too rich (too much fuel in the air/fuel mix). If it is blue smoke:
If it blows blue smoke only shortly after starting, it means oil is leaking into the cylinders from above, through the valves. This us typical of older engines, and can be repaired without removing the engine from the truck (although it is still expensive). A 2008 should not have this kind of problem.
If it blows blue smoke all the time, it is bad piston rings or scored cylinder walls. Oil is leaking from below up into the cylinders. This is bad news - any solution will require removing the engine from the truck and complete disassembly (i.e. a rebuild). No engine oil treatment will make it go away, regardless of what the label says.
It is very, very rare in modern engines for a well maintained vehicle with less than 100K miles to need a rebuild. Damage such as this usually comes from not changing oil AND the oil filter often enough. 3-4000 miles for conventional oil or 6-8000 miles for synthetics. If using synthetic, be sure to get a high quality filter designed to be effective for the synthetic oil change interval.

2000 ferrarri 456 gt m-engine code was in history of maf airflow meter left side -ferrari dealer hasswitched from left to right and still has problem. Check engine lite only came on once since driving...

According to what you explain, there is some maf sensor defective or disconnected, the ferrari engine has high compression and forces the fuel to mix with the engine oil, this produces loss of oil pressure.
Check if the oil smells of fuel, check the sensor connections, also check the engine controller

BLUE SMOKE FROM AUDI RS6 ON DE ACCELERATION AND START UP THINK OIL STEM SEALS ARE LETTING OIL THROUGH. CAR RUNS FINE I THINK, AND EXCESSIVE BUILD UP OF OIL IN DRIVER SIDE TURBO PIPE, 62000 MILES WITH A...

General rules of thumb: Low speed engine on acceleration with smoke in the exhaust plume = worn piston rings High speed engine accelerating (spooled up turbo) with smoke = oil form turbo bearing and/or piston rings Engine on over run (coasting down, foot off the gas) with smoke = oil from valve guides. VW/Audi make good engines with tight tolerances so none of the above should apply at 62K miles; just make sure that the oil (the right oil) and oil filter are changed regularly.

The problem is that the last 4 times that i make the oil change always i have to add some oil before the 3000 miles but i cant see any oil in the concret outside, but i saw some oil aroud the motor seal...

You almost never see smoke, since catylic converters. A quart at around the 2000 mile mark is considered excelent, so I believe that you do not have an issue.

Still, it would be nice to burn zero oil, certainly my preference, but that is not how it goes. Most manufacturers would not repair a new car unless it burned MORE than a quart in 600 miles. I would not be happy at all about that.....

One thing to consider it Caster oil High Mileage blend. It is semi synthetic, and has polymers that help seals and consumption. I really like partial synthetic... I have witnessed measured improvement on several vehicles that had consumption issues.

Synthtic oil

yes synthetic oil can be used in just about any vehicle. Older vehicles with high miles it is reccomended to use high milliage oil but you should be fine with synthetic oil just make sure to use a high millage filter. reason is that traditional filters only last 3000 miles but synthetic oil lasts 5-6000 miles. A high millage filter will last tha same as the oil.
