Clutch pedal engages almost at the top not close to thefloor

have some one operate the clutch pedal and watch the operation of the clutch arm in the bell housing. If it works when the foot is going down but doesn't work when the pedal is coming back up then I would suspect the clutch master cylinder is faulty.. It is an easy check and it will save money because the only other thing is a worn out clutch plate and that means box out and new clutch kit fitted.

After changing transmission and clutch in 91 Wrangler, clutch goes to floor. Tried bleeding line but didn't work.

The clutch should go to the floor =) But if it's not disengaging the clutch disk, there's definitely a problem between the pedal and the clutch disk. I'm guessing you have a hydraulic clutch?

92 mazda miata new clutch new clutch master cylinder systems been bled several times clutch will work 4 awhile park car then try again and clutch quits working again, while driving clutch works fine 4...

Sounds like the seal in the new clutch master cylinder. I've seen that same problem in the hand brake system in small 2 and 4 seat airplanes. ( I'm and aircraft mechanic) The problem is not air in the lines so bleeding won't help. The piston seal is intermittantly failing to seal. That is whty the function can return without any apparent reason as the seal has seated itself. The only cure is to replace or rebuild the master cylinder. ( Yes, even new or rebuilt ones can have a defective or improperly installed piston seal)

Hope this helps

Clutch was working but had to pump up to make work after sitting for a time and now wont pump up. clutch is not working now.

Hi, there seems to be a problem with the hydraulic clutch actuators, you should checkt the hydraulic cylinder driven by the clutch pedal for operation. If this cylinder is working, the problem hast to be the other cylinder operating the clutch.
