Remove the air filter and clean or replace it. Get a can of spray starter fluid and spray into the carb before mounting the filter. Chances are the new spark plug is wet from gas.

Changed timing chain on my 1989 K 1500 5.7 liter 350 4x4 Fixed Shortage in Battery Cable now fuel injectors spraying too much What Could Cause them to Spray Too Much Fuel?

The injector pulse is delivered to the injectors from the engine computer which works out the timing and duration of each pulse from pre-programmed values suitably modified by processed information from various sensors.

If any sensor becomes faulty the engine computer should record the fault and switch to a get-you-home emergency programme that mostly the engine finds quite adequate to start up and run reasonably well.

While it is possible the fuel pressure regulator isn't working causing a massive overpressure, or one or more of the injectors are faulty or if it is the type of injection system that uses a separate cold-start device that is faulty, it would be the height of coincidence - on the face of things, it would seem a strong possibility the engine management computer has been damaged during your electrical crisis.

I have encountered a couple of cars that for different reasons the battery became disconnected while the engine was running. The resulting power surge fortunately only destroyed the engine computer of one car but the other car had every electronic item destroyed, including the instrument voltage regulator and the radio.

Computers of all sorts are very vulnerable to power surges...

My son says his truck won't start with the key but will when hotwired. Possible problems?

if it wont start with the key only when hotwired my idea would go in the direction of the ignition barrel
hotwired start means its not the fuel pump because it runs
its possible the barrel isnt making the connection at the start position

2000 kia sephia fuel pump/overheating/not turning over

sorry to tell you but you have a blown headgasket or cracked cylinder head. that is why the coolant blows out of the radiator and the engine won't start due to engine compression getting into the cooling system.

I have boiling water in the reserve i have blown a radiator fixed that checked for a thermostat which isnt in the car and the water pump is working any ideas?

ok you have a lack of circulation. this happens when you get a pocket of air locking in the coolant system, you will need to get it out in order to fix the problem, or you have a blockage, best thing to do is take it to a shop, tell them you want the coolant system flushed, this is what they should do, put a flush on the system this will tell them and you if there is a blockage, then if there is not, they will use an Air lift type system to vaccuum the coolant system down thus eliminating the air lock. problem solved with minimal cost. I would walk you though how to do this at home but its not cost effective sine the tools you need ot do it are quite costly.

Does the Kia Sedona 2.9 diesel, 53 plate (2003) have a fuel pump in or near the fuel tank? It wont start and it used to make a faint humming when you put key in ignition as though it was pressurising the...

i have tried a search and i cannot find where the 02 sedona offered a diesel option motor, i found only one available motor and that was a 3.5 sfi , well that pump is in the tank. Did you try and put diesel fuel in this vehicle? as it wont run on diesel.and its possible it fried the pump. but you will have to drain tank and flush fuel lines if this is the case.

Remove the Air breather , put a little fuel into the carb if it starts test to see if there is power to the fuel pump if there is power to the pump you will need a new fuel pump if there is no power to the pump change the fuel pump relay .
