My back brake is sticking on i no me brack pads are low but is there any way to free them

You need to take the master cylinder apart and clean it . There is a small pin hole that is plugged with dirt or rust. Or rear you have a really dirty rear caliper that is not floating properly. A pressure wash should fix that.

While I am driving when I am pressing the gas pedal it makes a scraping noise but not all the time. If I hit the brakes it will stop. I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE


Sounds like it might be the low brake pad indicator. A small flap of metal which is made to scrape the rotor when the brake pads reach a certain low level. When brackes are applied the noise typically quiets.
Check for worn front brake pads.

Our car has been sitting parked for the past 8 months, today we tried to move it and the back brakes are locked, and the back wheels will not move? What could be the cause of this?


The bracke drum / Hand brake cable is stuck . Try to hammer the rear wheel centre and if the brake drum is stuck it wiill be released .
Also the cable of hand brake is stuck . try puling the hand lever of the hand brake up and down many times this may free it .

Pulling in left rear and brake and rotor used up faster than all others


Possibilities.
1. The Caliper is sticking open, causing the friction which equals the pulling; and the brake pads and rotors to be eaten frequently.
This means:
a. The Caliper is faulty.
b. The Brake Line Hose (if so equipped) going from Brake Line to the Caliper is faulty.
A. To Check which one is faulty:
B. Raise and Support properly the rear of the vehicle.
C. Remove the tires from both sides.
D. Inspect the brake springs and brake pad retainers (if so equipped) Missing or improperly placed springs and/or brake pad retainers (if so equipped) could possibly cause this also.
E. Using a 6-inch (or larger) "C"-clamp, place the top end of the "C"-clamp onto the back of the caliper. Do not place it on the Brake Line/Hose or the Brack Line connection to the Caliper. Place the screw end of the "C"-clamp onto the center portion of the outside Brake Pad, but not touching the Caliper Housing. Begin screwing-in the clamp, this will move the Brake Pad in, and push the Caliper Piston back into the Caliper Bore. If this is difficult to do, then that is your first sign that the Caliper is "sticking open".
If you are not sure how easy or hard this should be: Move to the Right Side of the vehicle and Clamp-in the right rear Caliper to get an idea of how easy/difficult it should feel. Compare the feel.
If the Left Rear Caliper is difficult to reset:
(1) Place a tight fitting Hose over the nipple of Bleeder Screw, located on the back of the Caliper. Do not cover the nut sides.
(2) Loosen the Bleeder Screw until fluid starts coming out.
(3) Reattempt to Clamp-in the brake.
(4) If it is now alot easier to Clamp-in, then it is the Brake Line Hose going from the Brake Line to the Caliper that is most likely faulty.

The Brake Hoses wear out on the inside, causing "gate-like" frayings. The fluid can flow out to the Caliper, but once the Brake Pedal is released these "gates" close, not allowing the fluid to return-out of the caliper. The Caliper maintains pressure on the Rotor causing the pulling of the vehicle and the wear-and-tear of the Rotor and Pads.

Brake acts like it's not releasing fully...holding mower back like the belt is slipping...just replaced drive belt and it's still doing it.


the brake caliper is rusted closed causing the pads to stay enguaged, dissasemble the brake caliper and remove the 2 pins and de-rust them with emory cloth. reinstall them with anti-seze and reasemble the brake caliper back onto the transmission should be good to go!

How do you get the rear brake calipers to retract in order to fit new pads?


use a c clamp to push the caliper piston back in, after its in replace the pads ,all back to gether, push the brack pedal till it feels good, hope this helps you, robert b.

It is the same as the older cars.
Just change the pads as usual.
It`s when you come to bleed the brakes that problems arise.

brake pads are the ONLY way to stop you going like 30mph+ when you hit like a wall or person or like another road user & if you do crash YOU will be totally at fault for having an unfit car. The best way to get the lights on your dash to go out is to fit new pads. The lights show that the time when the brakes WILL fail is drawing very near, it is stilll up to you to get the pads changed. You will not get any further warnings from your car prior to not being able to stop at all thus causing endangerment. You will be shocked at just how bad they were when you feel the new pads.

Front brackes dragging


Change the hoses from your calipers to the frame. It's a rubber looking line. Inside of those lines there is a valve and if that valve is not functioning properly, when you release the brake pedal it doesn't allow fluid to come back to the resevoir and therefore gives you the feeling you are driving with the brake on. Change them both sides and see if that helps

1999 honda accord ex v6


The back brakes on my Honda Accord are disc brakes. After removing the brake cylinder assembly you will see the brake cylinder piston end has a slot in it. The short pin on the back side of the inner brake pad fits into this slot, but also it is used to 'Turn' (clock-wise) the piston back into the cylinder so you fit the assembly back over the new 'thicker' pads. You can not 'press' this piston back into the cylinder.
