SOURCE: replace rear brake pads

Remove right saddlebag, pull the two caliper mounting bolts and remove the caliper. Do not open bleeder or disconnect line. You will need to push a large screwdriver between the old pads before removing them in order to push the pucks back into the caliper or the new pads will not spread enough to reinstall. Then pull the two smaller bolts from the caliper and the pads will fall out. The pads are different for inside and outside, so pay attention, and remember, after reinstalling, before riding, be sure to pump brake pedal, and it may take a few stops before brakes stop as effectively as before.

SOURCE: 1983 Honda CB550 Electrical Issue

sounds like a poor ground issue, pull out the headlight and check all connections in there, your turn signals are on seperate feeds than the lights but they will probably share the same ground/earth in the headlight

SOURCE: How do I change the front and rear brakes on a

Not too hard - Undo the two bolts on the caliper and then seperate the caliper and pull the old ones out. Insert the new ones and put the bolts back in to hold the caliper back together and then install them back on the bike with the two retaining bolts. Use a bit of lock tight (Blue) on the threads. Warning do not let anyone apply pressure on the brakes while you have them off the bike or you will have a mess and/or a problem.

It could be the fuel injecters.they are hooked to the speedo I had the same problem and it was the aftermarket FUEL MANAGEMENT plugin .reset it and was good to go.

I have a 2000 flht.at 3,000 rpm my speedometer reads 40 mph.any ideas whats wrong,or what can i do?

Hello Galen... The digital speedo on your Harley goes thru a very short start up sequence. If you crank the bike before this sequence is complete, it will often make the speedo register incorrectly. Next time you turn on the ignition, watch the speedo needle, it will make a little ****, once this is done crank the bike. If it reads wrong going down the road, pull over, turn off ignition and crank it again while waiting for the needle.

You can also remove & clean the speedo sensor of debris (on top of the transmission). Sometimes the sensor will pick up small metal particles & cause the speedo to be off.

I hope this helps & good luck with your bike.

I have a 1997 FLHTCI that the speedometer just quit working, any ideas?

Speedometers do go bad, however, you should check the speedo sensor first. The speedo sensor should be located on the top right hand side of the tranmission. remove the sensor from the transmission, clean and reinstall. You should also be able to bring up the trouble codes on this speedometer which will help to diagnose the problem. If it turns out that the speedometer itself is bad, you will most likely have to go to the dealer to purchase a replacement.

I have a 1997 Electra Glide and the speedo cable went bad, I replaced it,speedo worked good for about 3 weeks, now the speedo has gone crazy and I get bad readings( odometer still works)!

Did you lubricate the cable prior to putting on? The cables come from the factory with a bit of lubrication on them but I've seen this too many times. After a few weeks, the cable goes bad and breaks or you erronous reading. I'm not sure but what I think happens is the cable "winds up" and then breaks free. This gives the erronous reads. Take the cable back off, pull it out of the housing and lubricate it with some grease. Just put the grease in your hand and pull the cable through it. Inspect it for damage.

Good luck
