Raise the bike off the ground. Remove the axle nut and start to slide the axle out. Depending on which way the axle was put back in the last time it was out, you my have to remove part of the exhaust system. If the axle is too difficult to get out, loosen the belt adjuster bolts on either side of the swingarm.

As you drive the axle out, mark and make a simple drawing of the spacers and where they go. Seems like the Softail bikes have a spacer in each wheel bearing seal and a solid spacer for a total of three. Make sure you mark them and make a drawing of where they go. Don't trust their position to memory. Once you have the axle out, you need to work the belt off the rear pulley. Do not twist the belt or bend in into a sharp radius as the internal cords of the belt will be damaged resulting in early failure of the belt. Raise the bike and tilt the wheel over until you can get it out. You may have to remove the upper & lower belt guards.

Good Luck

How to replace drive belt on a 1993 harley davidson heritage softail classic?

To remove a Softail drive belt FIRST remove the rear wheel then remove the primary chain, the clutch, the engine compensating sprocket, and the chain adjuster as an assembly, then remove the primary chaincase housing, place a support under the rear fork and engine, remove the pivot shaft and spacer, slip the drive belt off from the transmission sprocket.

To replace a Softail drive belt FIRST not that all belts, used or new, must never be formed into a loop smaller than 5.0 in. (130 mm), and must never be bent backwards because this can severely weaken the belt and cause premature failure if it, then install the belt over the transmission sprocket, install the pivot shaft and spacer, remove the support holding the engine and rear fork, install the primary chaincase housing, the primary chain, the clutch, the engine compensating sprocket, and the chain adjuster and the primary chaincase cover, fill primary the primary chaincase with oil, install the rear wheel, align the rear wheel and properly adjust the belt tension to the specified deflection.

How to change the drive belt on 2003 softail springer harley the belt that trunes thr reair tire

To change the final drive belt on your Softail, you must drain the primary and pull the outer primary cover off. Then, you must take the engine sprocket, primary chain, and clutch assembly off. Then you must remove the starter and the inner primary. Then, raise the bike and remove the rear wheel and the swingarm. It's quite a job.

How do i replace the rear brakes in my 2005 harley springer softail

Remove any saddlebags or whatever in order to get to the rear caliper. Remove the two Torx head bolts that hold the caliper into the bracket. Lift the caliper out of the bracket and lay it aside so as not to put a stress or sharp bend in the hose.

Stop and look closely at the pads and the anti-rattle hardware in the bracket. When you're sure of how it goes in, take the old stuff out and install the new.

You must get the piston depressed all the way back down into it's bore in the caliper. Use either a large C-clamp or a large pair of slip joint pliers to push the piston into it's bore. Use rags or pieces of wood to protect the finish and paint on your caliper. Once you have the piston fully seated in it's bore, carefully reposition it in the brake caliper bracket without disturbing the pads and hardware. Insert the two bolts and tighten to a torque of 18-20 foot pounds.

Slowly pump the rear brake pedal until you get a good firm pedal. Test the brakes before you ride the bike. Failure to do this job correctly can cause serious injury or death. Make sure the brakes work correctly before riding the bike.

My 2005 springer vibrates as i accelerate up thru the gears...yet when i clutch it goes away. I have had the dealer replace the compensator sproket and the rotor

You 05 model has the TC88B engine. This is the counterbalanced engine and there should be no engine vibration. I'd suspect something on the right side of the engine that drives the counterbalances.

How do i take off the rear sproket on an Ultima v twin belt drive

If you're talking about a belt type primary drive, try this site for information. It's Ultima's installation instructions for their belt drive primary. If you're talking about a large nut about 15/16" in diameter, the threads are left handed. This nut is used on the earlier five speed transmissions. Check this site out and see if it helps. You may have to look for the specific unit you have on your bike to find the correct information. Good Luck!
