Question about 1989 Yamaha FZR 600

I have taken off the air filter housing and am looking at the carbs to clean them how do i go about this

Take them off and take them apart. You cannot clean them on the bike.

My stihl ms390 chainsaw starts and runs for around 20-30 seconds then stalls, i've taken off and cleaned the air filter and carburetor which both look fine, the diaphragm is intact too.

cleaning the carb might not clear problem may have to rebuild it also check fuel is correct and look at fuel filter inside tank

I have 2 mowers alike both 6.5 B&S walbro carb. with primer bulb in filter housing. cleaned screen,& new gasket. nether one will prime gas in to start. what am I missing. had this happen before.

It probably that the filter housing is warped from either old age or the screws mounting it to carburetor have been overtighten warping the filter housing.

Remove the filter housing and look at the gasket. I am fairly you will see areas of non-contact on the gasket or where it has been cut into.

Starts on choke but won't rev and stops when trying to rev or choke off

It sounds like either the jets in the carb are plugged or the slide diaphragm in the carb has a hole in it. First take the air filter cover and air filter off the carb. Start the engine with the "choke". Do not get your face too close to the carb but look into the carb and gently rev the engine. The slide should move up and down. If so, the diaphragm is probably alright. If the bike has been sitting up for a good while, the gasoline in the float bowl would have evaporated and left behind a thick gummy residue. This may have the main and slow speed jets plugged up. The carb will have to be taken off the engine and professionally cleaned.

My el250 starts to splutter and the power decreases will ridding

You have probobly check these things but worth a good look.
1. Is the choke working correctly
2. Is there extra air getting into fuel mix? Air filter and pre filter in good order and not perrised, Are the air box rubbers sealing on carbs and air box 100% these tend to harden an draw back into airbox off the carbs.
3. Check the above then remove the air filter and clean all part in air box housing any dirt/particals removed check deeper into air box also as there can be residue build up there, remove the pre filter from top of airbox housing and clean replace filter ir required start bike and warm up do not over rev with filter element out , spay some carb cleaner up and into air box slowly adding throttle as you do so, do this several times refit with new air filter if required fit the top of the housing checking that the little rubber gasket is in tact.
4. Check also the petrol tap is working correctly the vacuum, may not be 100% causing your power lag/starting problem.

If you are getting spark than the only thing left is fuel??? You've taken such great care but do not know if you have a fuel filter??? The most novice thing to do is, the unlawful use of carb cleaner in untrained hands, carb cleaner and starting fluid does not fix things, common sense and mechanical ability are the cures for most of life. Bike has been sitting for five years inside old dudes house has five thousands miles on it. on rev down it pops.and on the road hesatation on fast acceleration have not taken carbs off but sprayed carb...

you need to clean the carbs. the pilot and air bleds are blocked. make sure that you remove the air/fuel screw.
you maybe to use something more then carb spray.

06 CRF 450 that went under water, not getting fuel to plug

Chances are the air filter is extremely wet. Air can't get through a wet filter, and if no air can flow through the carb, no gas can flow through either. Remove the filter and try again to get the engine started. I assume you drained and cleaned the gas tank already. If still no joy, remove the carb and clean it using spray carb cleaner. Remove the air screw and throttle screw and spray into the screw holes as well as all the little drill holes in the carb body. The object here is to clean out the pilot jet and idle circuit. When re-assembling the carb, put the air and throttle screws back in and turn them inward until they LIGHTLY seat. Now open each of them up one and one half turns. This is the factory setting. gasket not possible the thing it could be is floats on a carb is too low so it is filling with fuel and leaking out off carb back through the air filter the way to test for this is to clean the airfilter and just leave the bike for a couple day then go see if the air filters is wet again get back to me once done

Idles at full throttle

Be sure the throttle cable is routed correctly and is not being stretched. When disconnected from the carb, does the inner throttle cable operate freely? Lubricate it. Also check that the cable connections at throttle and carb are seated properly. Does the slide move up and down freely? Remove the air filter and twist the throttle while looking inside the throat of the carb. LIGHTLY seat the throttle screw and the air screw then open each of them one and one half turns outward.

How to remove carbeurator on honda gx 390

remove the wing nut on top of the air filter housing. remove housing. remove next wing nut over air filter. remove air filter and bottom of housing. next, remove the 2 nuts on those threaded bolts you saw. there is one more bolt that you must remove located between the air filter and the exhaust. now the carb can be removed. this is possibly going to be very difficult but trust me, it can, and must be done. the carb should slide off of those bolts once you break it free from the intake. get your pry bars ready but try not to break any of those plastic parts! good luck.
