Question about 2001 Yamaha YZ 426 F

I have an 01 Yz 426 and it needs oil added to it after every single ride of more than 2 hours. Is this normal? I have heard from friends that they to have to do this.

Massive oil consumption is not normal , unless you just have a leaking seal. Even the four stroke race bikes require a regular rebuild. Either is is over due or it was not done correctly. A new piston, ring set, gasket set with valve stem seals, and either a hone or bore should fix it right up.

2001 YZ 426F IS RUNNING HOT AND MISSES AFTER CHANGING THE STATOR


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Engine oil level and SAE weight are too low or not circulating.
2. Insufficient or blocked air flow over the engine.
3. Heavy combustion chamber carbon deposits.
4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP, or CMP sensor.
5. Carburetor jetted too lean.
6. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.
7. Water coolant old or low change every two years.
8. Water pump failure.
9. Radiator clogged, cap loose or malfunctioning.
10. Radiator fans not coming on.
11. Clutch slipping, brakes dragging, heavy load, towing a trailer etc.
12. Idling too long without moving.
13. For constant hot weather temperatures, mountain, or desert riding conditions consider adding an oil cooler and or cylinder head cooler.

Why does my 426 dump the entire contents of the oil tank out the breather?

Do i have to let my 2002 yamaha yz426f run or anything before i check my oil because there nerver is any oil on my dipstick even after a oil change


Yes if you have the dip stick in the frame up by the petrol tank then you need at least 2-3 minutes of engine idle time to get an accurate reading - you basically need engine at full running temp but with out any riding been done just before you check it
The cheats way on the Big YZ is just dump the old oil every ride and stick 1 liter back in when you want to ride next You will always have perfect oil and perfect level

Oil leaks out breather after ride


mine does the same thing ive been told its normal just keep an eye on oil level but make sure engine is warm before checking it other wise it wont read properly on dip stick
