HELLO I HAVE JUST PURCHASED COBRA EXHAUST SYSTEM & NEED TO PURCHASE A FI2000R TO MAKE IT RUN RIGHT BUT I HAVE A LAMBDA SENSOR AS I AM IN THE UK WILL THIS WORK OR DO I NEED TO REMOVE THE SENSOR OR LEAVE IT CONNECTED TO THE EXHAUST MANY THANKS RICHARD

The lambda/oxigen sensor is mandatory, without it the mixture wont be right and the performance of the bike will be noticeably degraded.

    The engine is running weak because you have replace the exhaust system with a looser one. COBRA FI2000R is specifically designed to correct that - for it to work the oxygen sensor must be present.

Best advice i give here especialy as after watching police stop the essex police are hot on anything for a quick nick and extra brownie points ,Now what you do is remove the original and then refit it fot the test ,now if it doesnt run right as the ECU isnt sensing a lambada then you will have to drill a hole in it to fit one ,but if it runs ok then your on a winner ,Or buy a CLASSIC BIKE THAT USES CARBS AND POINTS ,i have an 81 kawasaki 750 classic on UK plates if your interested ,Listen honest advice is to keep it original especaily around essex police ,dont live in spain for nothing .

    if the new exhaust comes with a fitting for the sensor then connect the sensor and it will work fine ,only misgiving i have is the back pressure difference with the factory original and the new ones .but i think it work ok though main thing being when its time for the MOT as it will not be original homoglonation and this means that the noise level will be different to stated amount on the registration log book which could cause a problem .

have throttle body checked also the MDK throttle motor,

Lambda sensors are the same as oxygen sensors. and are l;ocated in the exhaust system.

Engine light is on it sounds like the catalitic convertor is clogged it is hard to get it up to 70 miles an hour and it has a funny smell


A smell not unlike rotten eggs?, if so then the cat is at fault, go to eBay & purchase a product called Cataclean, follow the instructions & take your car for a run, if this does not cure it then one of your O2 (Lambda) sensors needs replacing.

P0173 O2 Sensor System - Lambda Controller at the Limit (Bank 2 P0170 O2 Sensor System - Lambda Controller at the Limit (Bank 1 Visually/physically inspect for air leakage in intake/exhaust system as following items. A. Vacuum hoses for splits, kinks and improper connections. B. Throttle body gasket. C. Gasket between intake manifold and cylinder head. D. Seals between intake manifold and fuel injectors. E. Exhaust system between HO2S and Three way catalyst for air leakage. 2. Visually/physically inspect the restriction in intake/exhaust system as following items. A. Not sure, but I believe the lambda sensor is the feedback sensor, to determine if the mixture really is right.
On most cars that is the oxygen sensor I believe, and is located in the exhaust manifold or the top of the exhaust pipe.

V40 direct injection gdi . rich running & lumpy idle


replace lambda probe expensive but it will run ok after that, i dont know if you know how they work so here's a brief: lambda tells ecu how rich the exhaust gasses are, ecu ajusts fuel input as neccasery eg lambda says not anough fuel ecu puts more in and the other way round.
so if your lambda is covered in **** when you get it out just clean and put it back, if it looks clean enough it needs replacing!! jezza

P0420 on a 2000 Subaru Forester - I've had to replace the oxygen Sensor on this car about 3 times since the warranty expired. Prior to that it was covered by Subaru. They claim that the car was known for a...


P0420 is one of two things, it is either a catalyst failure (below threshold) or rear lambda.

The rear lambda should have a steady waveform when the engine is running if not then P0420 will be stored.

Cats and lambdas are very common on Subaru.

As the car is older than 2001 it does not come under R103 regulations therefore you could cut out the old cat and replace with a Carsound (Magnaflow) universal bullet. That will save you £££
The Subaru lambdas are now available aftermarket so try a motor factor, not the dealers.

How many lambda sensors are on a megane 2.0 ide engine


The lambda sensor checks the car is running the correct air/fuel mixture, it is situated near the exhaust manifold, usually screwed into the catalyst.

Bike backfires and at an idle it shoots out a blue flame


Purchase a EFI controller. I suggest a Fi2000R. It is easy to hook up and fairly easy to set by the instructions.
