Question about 2001 Harley Davidson FLHRCI Road King Classic

1 Answer

I was wondering if you had a Diagram ofthe Brake Line for a 2000 Road King Classic? I don't know if mine is the original ornot since it is a used bike I bought. It is leaking so I want to know what the original looks like to replace it and get the right one. Thank You!

The biggest problem I have seen with Harleys is: AFTER MARKET PARTS.
I suggest you take a photo and go to a Harley dealer and discuss it with the service manager. That way you get only what you need and the parts will be correct for your model.

SOURCE: How do you set the cruise control on my 2008 Road

You should have a cruise on and off switch on your dash unit, turn this on. a Red cruise indicator should come on on the tach or speedo. On the right hand set of controls you should have a set/resume rocker switch, Get the bike to the desired speed and push to the set, if you have done this correctly the small cruise indicator should come up Green on your tach or speedo. If you apply the brakes cruise will come off and the indicator will become red again. Get the bike up to speed and hit resume to return to desired speed.
To alter speed while underway, the set / resume button also double as the accelerate / coast button. if you wist to increase your cruise speed move the button to the ACC position until the desired speed is acheived, same for reducing cruising speed, hold to the coast position until desired speed is met then release button.

I don't believe the cruise will lock in if you are below 60kmph or 35mph, as it is meant for highway use.

SOURCE: clutch adjustment

There are to different adjustments you can make. The most common adjustment made is on the clutch cable under the rubber boot real easy to figure out once you slide the boot off. The second is at your ramp and ball. I don't ride a RK so I don't know the exact method, but if you stop by your local library they might have a manuel that explains it in detail. My library does.

SOURCE: Harley won't start.

A harley AGM battery are usaully good for three to five years the best thing to do is have the battery load tested. Now as far as your problem now depending on the batterys state of charge the solenoid will click or not.Because you store it alot you should keep a trickle charger on the battery

Can the engine oil pan on a 2001 road king be removed without removing the emgine?

Although I don't work on 2000 and later model bikes, I'm pretty sure that the oil pan can be removed from the bottom of the transmission just as the older model bikes were.

Rear brake light not workiing

There are two brake light switches. One is in the right handlebar switch housing. This is front brake light switch and is a simple push button type switch actuated by the front brake lever.

The other switch is a pressure switch and it is located in a Tee usually somewhere under the bike near the rear of the transmission. Follow the metal tube coming out of the rear of the master cylinder. It will go back towards the rear brake. Somewhere in that line there will be a tee with the pressure switch in it. If you jumper across this switch, the brake light should work. If it does work when you do this but not work when you depress the rear brake signal, replace the rear brake light switch.

Good luck
Steve

Rear brake not holding pressure , pedal goes to the floor

Is your rear rotor warped? if the rotor is warped it will push the pads out causing you to have to pump them to stop.Remember the dot 5 is aeroscopic. if you shake or drop the bottle of fluid, you cannot use it for at least 24 hours. it will continue to create air in itself for that long. so even if you bleed the system correctly it will continue to introduce air into the system.
