Question about 1996 kawasaki VN 800 Vulcan Classic

1 Answer

Rode for 120 kilometers pulled over and filled gas tank soon after smiled gas. Seemed to run fine. Next day rode for about 50 km but sounded really rough at high speeds around 120km. Pulled over to park in parking lot held clutch in and it stalled noticed a little puddle of gas underneath. Started it later rode for a bit but still sounded rough at hog speeds then it started to stall as if too much gas was filing carb. Let off throttle went for a few sec geared up and same thing started to stall when throttle was engaged let off a little idles fine but starts to stall when throttle is engaged while riding. it just started yesterday the problem. Not sure if fuel mixture is too high, injectors clogged, improper air to fuel mix ? Would you know the problem occurring on a 1998 kawaski 800 vulcan classic.

I would suspect that the float is sticking. Checking will require removal of (in order): seat, tank, air filter box/backing plate, and finally, the float bowl at the bottom of the carb. Insure that the float is not flooded, and that the float needle is free of trash.

2002 VT750 ACE carb overflowed into cylinder, tried to start and heard clunk, stopped cranking it.when it starts now it sounds like a lifter tap that worsens when engine is revved. What happened ?

Too much fuel drained into the crankcase. Fuel does not compress, so there is some internal damage you'll have to locate once you tear down the engine to inspect it.

How to compute kilometers per litre

You would fill up the vehicle, then divide the mileage traveled by the amount of fuel it took to fill the tank again.
So assuming you filled the tank each time, you would divide 609km by 100.4 ltr which is .1648 or 16.49 L/100km
Thats about 40 mpg.

No start 09 Ultra Classic Electra Glide

Sounds like your charging system is not charging the battery.

Put a volt meter on the battery, run the engine up to maybe 2,000 RPM. The voltage must be at least 13.8V, but not more than 14.5.

If that is all OK, your battery is worn out, and is not holding sufficient reserve. It would need to be replaced.

Changing the Radiator fluid on the Yamaha WR426 2001

Well, that is a strange way of doing thing, but as long as it works, why not.
When you fill the coolant tank did you have the motor running because the coolant is meant to be recirculating while you fil the tank and to push out any air trapped inside the radiator until it overflows then you shut down and top up the tnk then close it. Run/use the bike as normal while everyday chacking to ensure proper fluid level is in the tank. If satisfied you can stop checking as it would be fine after that.

This morning I rode my bike to work. When I got

This is a shot in the dark but a potential "fix" that won't cost anything to try is to drain the carbs. Water can condensate in the gas tank and collect in the gas tank ( at the gas valve ) and carb float bowls. Since water does not burn well as a fuel, it can cause sputtering and uneven running. Enough water build up and the bike won't run at all.

Honda cfr 150 f, will start but when I turn the throttle it stall

It sounds like a fuel problem. Drain the fuel tank, take the air filter off and spray some carburetor cleaner into the throttle bore, and make sure that the air and vacuum lines are clear and undamaged. Refill the tank with fresh gas and try it again.

it sounds like you have something in your tank that is covering your fuel outlet, it may be a piece of rust, or if you had it lined maybe some of the lining (aren't they usually a rubber compound?) has flaked off and is floating around. Drain the tank, remove it and see if there is any foreign objects in there. (this is just a guess though, I may be completely off here)
