THE MOST OBVIOUSE REASON FOR THE FAN NOT COMING ON IS THE LACK OF WATER IN THE SYSTEM, IGNORE THE COOLANT BOTTLE, GO STRAIGHT TO THE RADIATOR AND CHECK FOR COOLANT ASSUMING YOU DO HAVE COOLANT, YOU COULD ALSO DO 1 OTHER TEST.WHEN YOU SAY YOU STRAIGHT WIRED TE FAN, DO YOU MEAN YOU PUT A LIVE FROM THE BATTERY TO THE FAN AND IT WORKED? HAVE YOU TRIED LOCATING THE THERMAL SWITCH LOCATED ON THE RADIATOR THIS WILL HAVE 2 WIRES ON IT, IT ACTS AS A THERMOSTAT WHEN THE WATER GETS UP TO TEMP(IE THE REASON FOR WATER PRESENCE) THE SWITCH ALOWS POWER TO CROSS THROUGH TO THE FAN,, JOIN TOGETER BOTH WIRES AT THIS SWITCH WITH THE IGNITION ON IF THE FAN THEN WORKS AND YOU HAVE CHECKED THE ABOVE I WOULD SUSPECT THE SWITCH IS AT FAULT.BEFORE REPLACING TEST IT USING A MULTI METERE

My cooling fan on a 1998 intrigue wont turn on.TJHE guy i purchased it from said it was the fan module is this right

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Check the fuse first. If it is good, check the wiring to the fans. If the wiring checks out, change the fan. You can always hook up a wire to the hot wire of the fan and take it straight to the battery if you need to go anywhere in the time being. Just remember to take it off once your done driving.

2003 kia sorentos engine cooling fan wont come on

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Check your fan fuses first. They might have blown. If that don't help, you probably have a bad wire or bad fan. You can test the wires with a voltage meter to determine which it is. For now, you can hook a wire to the fan straight to the battery if the fan is not defective. This will allow your fans to work while the wire is on the battery.

Cooling fan wont come on causing car to run hot

Could be a fuse, relay, temperature sensor, damaged wiring or the fan motor itself.

Cooling fans wont come on . relays replaced fuses good,, and coolant tempature sensor replaced also. fans work when straight wired.

Check at relay socket for fan command signal while engine is running and hot. There should be 2 hot terminals in the socket. If not, your computer (PCM) is not turning the fan on.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6022358-relay_check for how to check the command signal and let me know if you have questions.

Radiator fan not working

WELL I WOULD CHACK FAN SWITCH I THINK YOUR ON RAD SHOULD HAVE TWO WIRES GOING TO IT WHEN IT IS HOT IT SHOULD SHOW GROUND OR POWER DEPENDING ON SYSTEM SO LETS SAY ITS GROUND SYSTEM THEN YOU SHOULD SHOW GROUND ON BOTH WIRES IF YOU HAVE GROUND ON BOTH SIDE WHEN HOT SWITCH IS GOOD THEN I WOULD CHECK FUSE OR FAN MOTOR HOPE THIS HELPS

My radiator fan does not work under any conditions, all fuses ok, wondering which relay is it to check conditions, thanks

Here are the cooling system diagnostic steps...First does the cooling fan kick on (with engine hot)? If not, check the fuse, if good then check the thermoswitch in the radiator (it's about an inch and a half in diameter located on the lower part of the radiator with two wires ) by disconnecting the wires and touching them together (again, with engine hot...at least 190 degrees) if the fan comes on, you have a bad switch. If not connect a 10 gauge jumper wire from the battery to the fan itself (there are three terminals,,, one high, one low and ground). With power direct from the battery (and a ground wire, if necessary) fan should run... if not replace the fan assembly... if it does run then you have a bad cooling fan relay. It will be located above the fuses on the fuse block... Hope this helps...;-)
