Sound like you pulled the wrong plug to me. The oil drain plug in under your bike. Look at the oil tank from the right side of your bike. Near the rear of the tank, there's a large hose that runs downward towards the rear of the transmission. It continues down and looks like it connects to a crossmember on the frame. If you'll look under that crossmember, you'll find a plug that uses an Allen wrench or hex key to remove.

Do not remove the oil line that goes from the tank to the engine. However, you said that you found it to be plugged. Plugged with what? If the oil infeed line got plugged, it's because something has gotten into the tank. Drain the tank and check to find out what is inside the tank.

2005 fat boy oil change

Stand the bike upright. Remove the dipstick from the oil tank. Remove the drain plug on the bottom right side of the frame. While the oil is draining, replace the oring on the drain plug. Remove and replace the oil filter, after filling the new filter half full of oil. Replace the drain plug. Put 3 quarts of oil in the oil tank. Replace the dipstick. Start the bike and check for leaks. No leaks, you're done! I use HD Syn 3 synthetic oil in my '04 Fatboy, but you can also use a conventional 20w50, as long as it's made for use in and air cooled motorcycle. Don't use car oil!

Where is the drain plug located?? My husband removed a plug under the bike a liquid came out but not much. the transmission is now over full - please explain where the drain plug is located?? a picture...

The oil drain on your husband's Softail is a hose that comes off the lower backside of the oil tank on the right side of the bike. The hose comes out the backside of the tank and goes down behind the transmission. It comes back out down low on the frame just in front of the swingarm and behind the exhaust pipes. It either ends here with a plug in the end of the hose or it connects to a crossmember of the frame. If it connects to the crossmember, the drain plug is directly below the hose on the bottom side of the crossmember. I don't know what year they changed to the crossmember location. Just look for the large hose down low on the frame behind the exhaust pipe. The plug he pulled out is a drain plug for the cam chest so that you can drain the oil out of there in the event you're working in that area. It will refill itself once the engine is started.

How much oil what wt.

Most any kind of 4-cycle motor oil like 10W-30 will work in these motors. After draining the old oil replace the drain plug. There are two types of motor oil fill holes: 1. If you have a motor with the oil fill/check hole on the bottom of the motor and a small screw-in plug either with or without a small dip stick on it; with the motor level, fill the crank case with oil until it is up to the threads on the oil fill/check hole. 2. If you have a motor with a long dip stick that goes into a filler tube at the top of the motor, again with the motor level, put in about half a quart of oil and use the dip stick to check the oil level. If not full, add quarter quart amounts and check again until the oil is at the full mark on the dip stick. Do not overfill the crank case with oil. Most motors will take about one quart of oil but it varries so watch to see the oil level come up to the proper level.

NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CHANGE ALL OILS 2005 Electra glied classes harley

The oil tank is on the bottom of the transmission. The engine oil drain plug is on the left front corner of the oil tank. Drain the oil, change the oil filter, and refill with three quarts of any approved 20W50 weight engine oil. Check the oil level using the dip stick. The dip stick is located on the right side of the transmission. The oil cap is a large cap (2" or 50mm in diameter) with knurled edges on it. The dipstich has two marks on it. The top mark is 'FULL HOT" and the lower mark is "FULL COLD". Keep the oil level between these two marks. Check the oil level with the bike on the side stand.

How do i change and drain the motor oil for a 2001 Harley Heritage Springer model?

remove the dip stick(right side of bike) for free flow, drain plug is under rear swing arm bottom of frame, not the one under primary, once drained, remove oil filter in frount of motor(u might need a special iol filter wrench), u will get oil on motor, cover with something. once all drained, fill at dipstick till where it is at full mark on stick(about 3 1/2 qaurts). run bike foe about 10 min., then shut off and recheck, add more if needed.

I have a 2001 FLHTCUI. Where do you add transmission fluid and is there a dipstick? It says there is in the owners manual but I can't seem to find it.

Yes, there is a dipstick. Right where your engine and transmission come together, there is a round cap about an inch and a half (40mm) in diameter or so with knurled edges. This is the oil spout plug and it has a dipstick. Check your oil with the bike on the side stand. There are two marks on the stick. The two marks indicate Full Hot and Full Cold. The oil level should be between these two marks. Do not overfill the oil tank that is on the bottom of the transmission.

On the bottom of the transmission threre are two drain plugs. The drain plug in the center is the transmission fluid drain, the drain on the left front is the oil drain plug. You engine takes three quarts of oil with the filter change. You transmission take 20-24 ounce of H-D transmission lube.

Need to find engine oil drain plug on 93 fatboy 1340

The engine oil drain plug is on the right side of the bike. Actually, it's a hose with a plug in it. Look just behind the chrome transmission clutch release cover on the right side of the bike. You'll see a large diameter hose that should be held to the frame by a clip with a metal plug in it. Just loosen the hose clamp and drain the oil from the tank. Remove the oil tank dip stick for faster drainage.

What is the drain plug between the shocks?

That is the transmission drain plug. It is just like the drain plug used to drain the oil from the oil tank. In fact, it uses the same size o-ring as the engine oil plug.

To fill the transmission, remove the chrome plug with a 5/16" hex head on it. Yours should take 22 oz. of 75w-90 gear oil to top off. Just make sure it is completely drained before refilling.

Make sure you are not checking the oil with the car running first of all, second don't check the oil immediately after turning off the car let the engine stand for about ten minute allowing the oil to drain off the dip stick,
