93 shadow VLX 600, insert key, turn on ,all lights work except the headlight,(checked bulb-good), checked, starter , starter relay, battery, ignition, on switch, start switch, electrical connections, no luck, I'm getting confused

try turning on then putting a old screw driver across post if turns over starter relay knackered

Sounds more like the battery may be dead... take the battery to O'Reilly's or Autozone and check the CCA (Cold Cranking Amps).. amperage is what starts your bike.. not voltage.. then see what happens...Next, its time to trace voltage.. make sure you are getting voltage from the battery to the solenoid.. then from the solenoid to the starter,,

possibly your starter has a short. Try jumping a hot wire to the starter.

check starter relay first this will be the part thats clicking and will have two thick battery leads on it,,,if you short across the two thick battery leads the starter should turn the engine over,,if this works change the relay,,if nothing happens when you short the two battery leads across then its a starter fault

Take a piece of wire or a screw driver and short the terminals on the solenoid. If the starter works you have a bad solenoid. If you hold the starter button and tap the starter with a plastic hammer and the starter works, you need new starter brush's.If you take the starter apart and do not have continuity between every other armature contact, just buy a new starter and put it in.

remove retainer ring on light assembly and bulb will come lose

I think the starter works off of a one-way clutch.
Go over your wiring once again. Make sure all the switches are in their correct positions.
Be sure the battery was properly charged before installation.
