This is the float bowl overflow. It's designed to route any overflow gasoline from the float bowl away from the engine. Without it, the gasoline would run into the engine and cause major problems.

when this happens, it usually means there is a bit of trash in the needle and seat valve operated by the float. You'll have to remove the float bowl, floats, and the needle valve to clear it out. The needle may need to be replaced. Unless you are experienced in serviceing carburetors, this is a job for a qualified shop.

Good luck
Steve

Why am I still getting fuel coming out of the over flow pipes ?

Hi, Nigel reset your float height to 21mm obviously thats not the problem and the other usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. improper fuel level in the float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.
6. Damaged or leaking float assembly.
7. Particle contamination in inlet fitting cavity.

Gas leak from bottom of carburator. backfier

If mower has been put up for winter and old gas left in gas tank it will drain to carburetor and the float will stick. This will let the gas flow out the float bowl. Remove float bowl and use carburetor cleaner to clean the valves and move the float up and down when it you get it clean the gas should flow float down and turn off when pushed up.

I have gas in my oil

I am going to assume that this is a model built before 2007 and has a carburetor. The only way gas could get into your oil that I can think of is through the carburetor. It seems you may have a slow leak from a bad carburetor float valve. It must be leaking from the carburetor to the piston area and then seeping by the piston rings to the crank case. The only way to correctly fix this (if that is the case) is to repair the leak by usually rebuilding the carburetor. In the interim, after you have changed your oil, make sure that you turn your gas off whenever you park the bike to prevent the gas flow and only turn it on when you are going to ride it and when you stop to park (no matter how short a time) turn it off.

Won stay running

Check carburetor & air filter. Clean off all dirt and clean air filter. check age of gas. Cannot be more than 30 days old. Make sure to use fresh gas w/synthetic 2-cycle oil @ 40:1 ratio (1 gal.) Gas to 3.2 oz. Oil). Do not use old or stale oil/gas mixture. Before putting in fresh fuel, press the primer several times. A small amount of gas might show up in the fuel tank. Remove fuel. With carburetor cleaner, spray carburetor. Put in small amount of fresh fuel. Just enough to cover the fuel filter. Then press primer with fuel cap off, and watch to see if fuel is flowing smoothly. If not or if plastic primer bubble does not come back to original shape after pressing, then you have to take carburetor apart and clean or get new carburetor.

I have 1981 Honda CX500C motorcycle. You know the overflow hose that runs out the bottom of the carb back behind the engine by the center stand. Well the other day I noticed gas pouring out of that hose...

The carburetor over flow tubes should be open. Here are the possibilities. 1)Your carburetors are dirty and need to be cleaned. Clean your carburetors. 2)Your carburetor float needles are damaged and causing the carburetors to over flow. Replace your float needles. 3) The fuel filter is missing on the fuel petcock and rust is causing the carburetors to overflow gas. Put the fuel filter back over the carburetor inlet tube and/or add an inline filter to stop the rust from sticking the needles open and over flowing the carburetors. 4) Your floats have become saturated with fuel and no longer float in gasoline. Replace your floats. Poor idling or idling on only one cylinder can be caused by a bad spark plug cap. If you unscrew the spark plug caps and OHM them out they should read 5000 OHMS no higher and no lower. Good luck you have your homework.

Water dripping from freezer into refrigerator area and frozen water in freezer

The defrost cycle is melting ice that will not go down the drain tube in the rear of the freezer. This can be a clogged tube due to debris, organic growths or ice blocking flow. What doesn't end up dripping into the fridge ends up freezing in the freezer compartment. Make sure the fridge is level or tilted back slightly.

Unplug the fridge from power. Remove the contents of the freezer and remove the ice maker, back wall plate and floor plate in the freezer section. Remove ice build up on the floor and tray in the freezer by thawing and soaking up water. Flush hot water (use a turkey baster to get at it) at the opening of the drain hose that is connected to the tray to thaw any ice.. once flowing to the evapraor tray under the fridge, mix up 1/2 oz of bleach and 4 oz of water and pour down the tube to kill any bacteria.

Reassemble and restock the freezer. Monitor the temperature of the fresh food (34 deg) and freezer (0 deg) compartments. If you notice the temperatures start to climb, there may be a problem with the defrost timer, terminator, etc. and may require a pro's help.

Good luck!
