Hi,I'm having the same problem right now with my son 's bike. While investigating what the problem could be,I discovered that one of the fuellines, the one between carb 3&4(on the right handside when you're on the bike)had a few holes in it.When I replaced it with a new one it ran great..........for a while and did exactly what you've described seven months ago.now I'm a bit stuck here and since your problem with the bike is seven months ago, I was thinking that maybe by now you would have the solution to our apparently mutual problem. If that would be the case, then I would appreciate it if you we're to help me out.

thank you,

Michel

Backfiring and trouble starting

If you change the exhaust pipes, you have to sync the carbs (if you cant sync them, you have to change the carb jets), usually it is backfiring because the carbs are not in balance.

My 1996 600 katana stalls at high rpms

Check your plugs are not breaking down under stress. As the problem happens in all gears and you have just changed the plugs, it is the most likely fix. But it could be your ignition advance system. So you may need a new igniter box. Good luck, hope this helps.

Definitely carb problems. Dieaphrams need to be checked and the carbs need to be synced.

RGV 250 m Backfire

Could be a crack in the boot between the carb and the head. this cracks usually from back firing. also check the exhaust flange to ensure that it is tight. Have you checked the valve clearances lately.
