If your bike is equipped with a carburetor, it also has a vacuum operated petcock. These things give more problems than I can tell you about. It uses engine vacuum to turn the fuel on and off so you don't have to. The problem is that if the diaphragm gets a hole in it, no fuel goes to the carb even if the tank is full.

I suggest that everyone replace their original petcock with a high quality aftermarket petcock. Pingle makes an excellent manually operated petcock. You'll never have trouble with one of those.

Good Luck

I have the same issue with my 2005 1200 Custom. What make/model of petcock should I get? Do you have a part number that I could use for reference.

Acts like it has no gas

The electric fuel pump in this truck is inside the fuel tank, the fuel that the pump sits in provides cooling and lubrication for the fuel pump, when you run out of gas it is like running the engine out of oil, it damages the pump,You will need to remove the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump.

I ran out of gas and i put gas in it and now it wont start i thought it might have froze but i have it in garage with heater now it starts but i have 2 pedal it 2 keep it running then it dies and wont...

If it ran out of gas, there are two possible easy fixes. One is that the fuel filter is plugged up by junk from the bottom of the tank. The other is that water floats on top of gas and now your lines are a mix of fuel and water. I would change the filter and put water remover in the tank. Make sure there is a least 10 gallons of fresh fuel in the truck. If neither of these work, the pump may have been damaged as it uses the fuel to keep it cool.

Truck acts like it is running out of gas? Replaced fuel filter. Ran fine for awhile but now still acts like it is starving for fuel.

my '93 f-250 (4.9L) stopped running while driving, now it acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Tried switching tanks, but still does the same. What would be the problem.

Have a husqvarna 61 chainsaw, having problems keeping it running above idle. Plug is good, fresh fuel, cleaned the carb, ran fine for a half hour then same problem. How do i fix this?

Good thought obwhon.
When it starts to act up loosen the fuel cap. If it performs normally you have a plugged fuel vent, wherever it is located. HTH

Acts like it is not getting fuel

Check the fuel line to see if it is clear. Run a wire through it or blow it out with air. Then if it is ok check the fuel tank to make sure nothing is clogging the fuel there. (Sometimes over the years debris gets into the tank and can clog there.) Had an old mower that did the same thing you are talking about, start and then quit. Had to clean the fuel tank out and then it ran like a champ. Good Luck
