Correct tire pressure - 30 PSI in the front
36 PSI rear single rider
40 PSI rear two up riding

Always refer to the side wall of the tire for air pressure. You may not be running Dunlop tires.

2005 softail deluxe is coughing and backfiring . What could the problem be?

Hi Tmdarnell55, popping, coughing, spitting, or backfiring through the carburator or induction module can be caused by air getting sucked in combustion chamber do too bad intake seals leaking. Leaking exhaust gaskets can also be suspect. Remove air cleaner and backing plate, while engine is idling spray WD-40 or Brake Kleen around intake manifold to head area, if RPM's increase you have an intake leak and seals need to be replaced, also spark plugs will be burning whiter than normal. Good luck and have nice day.

I put in a fuel sender gauge in my softail deluxe and the fuel gauge is reading lower than before. I think it might be the floater, Any thoughts?

I think you're correct in your assumption. It may read differently but is it accurate? That's the question. Since the sending unit is so difficult to get into the tank. sometimes the arm gets bent resulting in an erronous reading. You can try bending the arm but it may take several trys to get it as close as you'd like.

Good Luck

2005 deluxe oil light comes on when idling. goes off when excelling, oil levels are fine, no leak. do you think it's the sensor?

It could be the oil pressure sending unit or it could be that the engine is idling too low. Your engine should be idling somewhere around a thousand RPM. If your engine is equipped with a carb, the idle stop screw it at the top of the carb toward the front of the bike. Turn it clockwise to increase the idle speed. Make sure you're using 20W50 oil.

Good Luck
