Question about 1994 kawasaki ZZR 600

Open Question

I have a 1995 Kaw. zx600r C8 (Canadian Edition) and i have an intermit. problem with the bike acting like it's sputtering and it is only every now and then... doesn't seem to matter if it's from a cold start or warm and doesn't matter what RPM.. will be riding fine then all of a sudden it will act up... i have changed my air filter sponge even though it was clean but no change to how the bike acts up... it is very puzzling to me ( dont really know anything about bike maintence ) and have put a rag under the bowls and drained them but they came out clean ... HELP I"M LOST as to what to even think about trying

SOURCE: wont run /idle

i'd start with removing the carbs and giving them a thorough cleaning as when bikes sit for so long, the carbs begin to get gummy/varnished from the old gas.

check for blocked holes in the pilot jet & main jet and look for "hard & dried up" gas in passages. be careful of the float bowl gasket as to not tear it or you will need a replacement.

have you checked the breather in the petrol tank
if its blocked it can cause this problem as the petrol gets vapour locked.

SOURCE: high Tick over when hot cold is 1500rpm but after its been riden and warm it rases to 4000rpm chock is off lol

take the throttle cable off the arm at the carb end and try pulling the cable and check 4 stiffness maybe a frayd cable other wise all air screws may not be in sync with each other if tht doesnt work get back 2 me on tht 1

Sounds like the carb has not been cleaned properly, gas overflow like that could be caused from a worn seat/needle. Did you put after market exhaust on it?

Some articles I have read suggest removing the stock auto-choke carb and replacing it with a Honda CT70 Carb. Check with a local shop to verify, I do not own either and am just passing along the info.

Another solution suggested by 'OneRide': Try it with the gas cap off. The tank vent might be plugged. Possibly plugged fuel filter. Are you using the choke correctly?

This seems to be a very common problem and no 'one' solution to fix it.

you don`t say the rpm but if its sputtering then it sounds like there is not enough fuel getting to the cylinders(running out of fuel). have you tried to clean out the carbs to see if this will help.

Bike sputters

Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Throttle cables misaligned or misrouted.
2. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
3. Inlet system air leak.
4. Vacuum piston malfunction.
5. Accelerator pump leaking or no output.
6. Plugged bowl vent.
7. Fuel level in bowl too low.
8. Restricted fuel supply passages.
9. Plugged jets or passages.
10. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
12. The enricher valve not seated or leaking.

2008 Harley Nighster xl1200n. At mid speeds in higher gears, example being cruizing 55-60 on highway the bike has a sputter, acts as though it is running out of fuel, will sputter for a second or 2 then...

I doubt the battery would cause such an issue. It actually sounds like it could be water (condensation) in the fuel. I would suggest trying dry gas before you do anything else.

Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_152.gif

Runs then sputters and wont start

you might need to clean you stator(altinator) or maybe get a new one for you spark to work right if you have already changed the coil.also bad gas can do it also or low fuel.when the tank is low put your bike gas valve on reserve.A friends bike was running badly and all i did was put it on reserve cause the tank was low and the bike ran great after that.

Bike started to sputter and lose power fuel

This sounds like water in the gas. Condensation in the gas tank makes it's way into the float bowl and after enough accumulates the bike dies because water just doesn't burn like gas. Drain the carbs and then let them fill up again. The good thing is that the cost to eliminate this as a problem is zero.

Bike contuines to back fire acts like not getting fuel thru line

spark plugs are bad change them if that dosent work adjust ur timing adjuster!!
