Hi Robertandshe, try torquing your primary cover bolts to 10 ft lbs.If it still leaks replace primary gasket with Gasket Cinch. Good luck.

SOURCE: have devolped a small leak on 2005 road king.

Spray it off at the car wash to remove all the oil , then spray Right Guard (Yes, that Right Guard) on the area of the leak. It will show up, but you may not be able to see exactly where. There are a couple spots where it can leak. The jackshaft oil seal, as you said, transmission output shaft (clutch shaft) on the trans itself, the inner primary seal where the trans shaft runs thru, the engine sprocket shaft oil seal, inner primary O-ring, the bolts that hold the inner primary to the engine/trans, the primary chaincase gasket and the drain plug. Hopefully when you get it apart, you will see which seal is leaking. If not, replace them all. Still want to fix the leak? LOL

SOURCE: Tonight I drained 4 plugs on my 2004 FXST.

You must be referring to the engine oil that resides in the motor, as opposed to that which is stored in the oil resevoir (frame). I can't think of a bike without a drain on the engine, with or without additional storage in the frame/tank.

SOURCE: oil leak at inner primary

06 Road king inner primary leak where shift lever comes out, seal was leaking...Under warranty fixed no charge, no further issues!

I have heard of this same leak on the V-twin Harleys due to normal motor vibration "unbalanced" which is normal on the older models the 2008's and newer baggers have a differant mounting system that eliminates the vibration/ jumping/ loping/ which again is a normal Harley engine

How do i fix gear box gear oil leak ongs suzukugl drive shaft oil is working up through the starter and bottom of engine kind lie around gear sshifter

On the older bikes like Yamaha and Suzuki's, the starter had an O-Ring gasket on it's face. Your gasket may be bad, broken or missing and causing oil to get through. If you're leaking through your shifter pawl, then you're going to have to remove the case on the left side of the motor and replace the seal.

Primary chain rattling & have to rock bike to engage starter. 2001 Electrica Glide Classic

If you're having to rock the bike to get the starter to engage, you have a problem in the primary. There is a starter ring gear around the outer clutch drum that is engaged by the starter jackshaft. If the jackshaft is not engageing and not turning the engine, you may have some damage to this ring gear. It could be that your starter clutch in the starter is bad but that would not be effected by rocking the bike but rather just repeated attempts to start the engine. Either way I'd go into the primary for a look around. Disconnect the battery and drain the oil out of the primary through the pipe plug on the bottom of the primary at the very back. Take the floor board off and if necessary, the shifter mechanism. Take all the bolts out around the outer primary cover as well as the inspection cover in the center of the primary cover. With the cover off, you can inspect the starter ring gear and check the clutch for excessive looseness. Also check the starter jackshaft for damage. If find nothing, you may have a starter clutch problem. The starter clutch is inside the starter and the starter must be removed and disassembled to replace it. Adjust the primary chain so that it has 3/4" to 7/8" up and down movement in the middle of the top run of the chain. Adjust by moving the adjuster shoe up or down as necessary.

Good Luck
Steve

Not just changing oil, but is there gear oil to change, 1988 Harley 883 XL Sportster

Yes, there is oil in primary and transmission of your Sporty. To drain the oil, look for the drain plug on bottom of rear section of the primary area, back near the large round section of the primary. Drain the oil here and replace the plug. Add the oil at the top primary chain inspection port, large plug with a large "screwdriver" slot or two small bolts in it. Add 32-36 ounces of H-D "primary lubricant for Sportsters".

2006 1200 sportstsr leaking oil

If I understand you, the leak is coming from the inspection cover for the primary chain. There should be an O ring on that plate. If the cover is leaking when the bike is off you have way to much oil in the primary. The primary only takes 1 quart of gear lube, I use Mobile 1.

Benelli 900 sei

Dear Sir. The engine oil flows through the starter clutch which acts as a centrfugal oil filter. Sludge builds up and causes the starter clutch to slip.

It is possible to replace the Benelli 900 starter clutch without having to remove the engine.
It requires removing the clutch, then the side casing and gears. The sump needs to be removed...middle exhauster header pipes first. The lh engine cover and oil pump also needs to be removed. The primary drive shaft can then be removed from the RHS of the engine. the primary drive chain and satrer clutch assembly will now drop enough to enable the removal of the sprocket from the starter clutch (it is a bit tight and then the rest of the starter clutch will come out of the chain. Be aware that the oil pump drive connector is on the end of the primary drive shaft and care needs to be exercised. This is possible if due caution and care is taken. Assembly id basically reverse of above. Happy fixing.
