Question about Harley Davidson FLSTC - FLSTCI Heritage Classic Motorcycles

1 Answer

On my 2001 Heritage Softail I have an electrical, short of some sort makes like a groaning sound like a starter trying to turn over, when shut off. Sounds like it is coming from the fuel injector area. Will only stop when I disconnect the battery. Any ideas.

It's probably your idle speed servo motor. You'll have to take it to a dealer to remedy the problem. There should be a code in the system. It's supposed to go to a set position and stop but it sounds like it isn't stopping. It just keeps looking for that position.

Good Luck
Steve

2001 heritage softail that won't start, please HELP!!!!!

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1.Ignition/Light Key Switch not in IGNITION position.
2.Engine Stop switch in the OFF position.
3.Discharged battery, loose or corroded connections (solenoid chatters).
4. Bank Angle Sensor tripped and Ignition/Light Key Switch not cycled to Off and then back to Ignition
5. Starter control circuit, relay or solenoid faulty.
6. Electric starter shaft pinion gear not engaging or over-running clutch slipping.

My 2005 Heritage Softail was running fine. I shut itr off for a few minutes and when I turned the switch on I had NO electrics and my speedometer was making noise. Any suggestions

Look under the seat,at the bottom of the tank, and check the ground connections. Also check battery connections. If all this is good, remove the fairing, and check the wiring harness that runs across the fairing braces. They are prone to rubbing the wires and shorting them out.

2007 heritage softail It started up then died and now just spins and will not start. Everything seems to be working right.

form the sound of it you need a new clutch pak in the starter. Its pretty simply fix. don't let them sell u a new starter just a clutch pak for the starter. I take it by spinning u are not talking about the motor turning over. If its turning over then its not the starter.

After riding a short time the engine kicks out turns off. Shortly after, I am able to turn the engine back on with key. I have a HD, 2000 Heritage Softail Classic.

after it shuts off, are you able to turn the engine over as if trying to start it? does it just turn over and not fire? or will it turn over at all? if it does turn over after it shuts off, immediately pull the plugs and check for spark. and also see if the plugs are wet with fuel.
