It depends on whether or not you wish to install an inline fuel filter. They sell the hose by the foot and it's usually less than two dollars per foot. But two feet. Or, use a string, route the string the way you wish to route the hose and measure the string.

Good Luck

86 sporty 1200. Stalls out while riding, but will start back up, then shortly after stalls again.

Sounds more like you are not getting gas. Check the carb. Check the throttle line that it is adjusted correctly and you can see it moving the lever on the carb.

maybe you gas filter is plugged. Remove the gas line from the carb and open the pet cock. the gas should flow.

How to repair leaking fuel lines under the tank

Okay, prepare to get some gas on you. You need to drain the gas
You'll need:

1 pair hemostats or hose pincher
1 pair of wire cutters
1 screwdriver phillips or flat head
1 nut driver 1/4 inch or 5/16 inch
New fuel line. (cut 1 two inch piece and put the bolt in one end making a plug) = 2 inch plug
Hose clamps.
1 Bolt that will fit inside fuel line.(make line plug)

Pinch either side of the fuel line with hemostats. Cut the factory clamp off and pull the hose off. Put the 2 inch plug on the tank, and that will stop the gas from coming out. put a hose clamp on it if you want so it don't leak.
Now put a gas can under the pinched line and unpinch it and let the gas drain out of that tank.
When done draining , cut that hose off the tank and put it on the other side where that plug is. Remove the plug and put that line on and let that tank drain.
Once the tanks are drained., Just cut the hose to length and replace, using new hose clamps and new fuel line.
If your quick enough you can swap the hoses out without draining the tank.
You will get gas on you no matter what.

My 2005 yamaha TTR 125 will not let gas flow into the carb bowl, you can pour gas into it and it starts right up, thanks!

Your float in the bottom of the carb is likely stuck in the up position. The float attaches to a valve that shuts off fuel flow when level is just right. Can you see the little screw at the bottom of the bowl? Do you see the little overflow hose below that? Get a plastic soda bottle, put the outlet of the tiny hose into it. unscrew that little screw a few turns. Do you see fuel coming out? No? then take the back end of a screw driver and tap the bowl of your carb sharply 5 or 6 times. (Make sure the fuel pet **** under the tank is turned on. If you do not see fuel going into your bottle in a minute, shut off fuel at the tank. Screw the bowl drain back in. Remove the larger incoming fuel line that goes from tank to carb and put it into the bottle. Now you will open the petcock a little bit slowly. If you never see fuel come out of the tank, thru that hose, then your screens on the petcock may be clogged. Shut off fuel , Remove the cap on your fuel tank. blow into the line while slowly opening the petcock valve. Hear air bubbling in the tank yet? If you do, shut off valve, remove air pressure from line, point it back into the bottle and reopen the valve. If none of this works, then you need a new petcock valve.

I received an answer for a 25cc gas trimmer, however, my problem was with a Craftsman 32cc Gas Blower. I need to know where all the three gas lines go??

The routing of the fuel lines is the same. If you have 3 lines, that means the primer bulb is not directly mounted to the carb, rather it is connected to the carb with hoses.

Line 1. Comes from the fuel filter in the tank (smaller diameter hose) directly to the inlet port on the carb. This is the port that is opposite the diaphragm on the carb. Diaphragm is held on with 2 or 4 screws through a chrome plate. Make sure to leave enough hose so the fuel filter will fall to the lowest point of the tank when it is being used.

Line 2. Goes from the other port on the carb to the short side of the primer assembly.

Line 3. Goes from the longer port of the primer assembly and returns to the tank. Sometimes this line will have a simple coupler on the inside of the tank, but it is optional and its only function is to keep the line from slipping out. If yours does not have this coupler, just leave an inch or two of line in the tank.

*If both ports on the primer are the same length, you can test to see which is pushing air out...that's where line 3 goes.

Good luck!

My 2000 HD flstc is leaking gas from the petcock. How do I fix this?

Sounds like you've got a hole in the diaphragm that's inside the petcock. To fix it, you must first drain the tanks so you can take the petcock out of them.

With the petcock out, look on the backside of it. You'll see a plate with four small screws in it. Remove the screws and a diaphragm, a small spring, and a needle valve will be behind the plate. Hold the diaphragm up to the light and slight stretch it. If you find a hole, there's your problem. Replace the diaphragm.

Now, you're one of the luckier ones. Usually these vacuum operated petcocks simply quit allowing fuel to flow to the carb. They simply won't open and they leave you stranded with a full tank of fuel but none in the carb. I suggest the purchase of a high quality manually operated petcock such as a Pingle. If you choose to go this route, you must eliminate the vacuum hose and plug it up so that you don't have a vacuum leak at the carb. The vacuum line that comes off the back of the carb has a "Y" fitting in it. The main hose "Y"'s out to feed vacuum to the VOES and the petcock. Replace the entire hose with a single hose going from the carb to the VOES thereby eliminating the hose for the petcock.

Good Luck

My briggs 12 hp runs when gas poured in carb but only 10 to 20 secs. there is some sort of module w/ 3 quarter inch rubber hose to it. does anyone know if this is essential to the running of the engine? i...

THe module with the 3 hoses, quarter inch each, is the fuel pump. Pull the fuel line off the carb and hold into empty can, crank the engine with the starter. If the fuel pump is good it will pump a stream of fuel into the can ( the stream will pulse as the pump works off of engine vacuum). Check the fuel you have caught in the can- is it stale or does it have water in it? If no fuel comes out then remove the fuel line from the tank to the pump and make sure you have fuel getting to the pump. The third line is the vacuum line from the valve cover and should not be an issue unless it is cracked and broken.
If the pump checks good and you are getting good fuel to the carb then rebuild carb.
The air filter assembly is essential for keeping the carb from ingesting dirt and ruining the motor but has nothing to do with the function of the carb.

I need info on a Poulan Pro 445 fuel line routing

I'm so confused. This is reported as a Poulan and McCulloch pole saw, which one? Is it a pole saw? That is the only 445 Poulan I can find. It is reported as an electric but has a fuel routing problem.

If it is a Poulan Pro gas pole saw it is here: PP445 Gas Pole Pruner
The fuel system routing is terrible, but it is all there is.
Fuel Routing follows:
Tank to carburetor (hose in tank with filter on free end)
Carburetor to primer (primer draws fuel from the tank through the carb)
Primer to fuel tank (returns any excess fuel to tank when pushed) HTH

Im having problems with either the choke function or the pet-**** function just need some help with determining which one.

Disconnect the fuel and vacuum lines from the pet****. With no vacuum applied, fuel should not flow. Create vacuum on vacuum line (using pump or suction) and fuel should flow. If fuel flows continually (or not at all, or from the vacuum hose) the pet**** needs replaced. Your bike's carbs probably have fuel enricheners (valves that allow additional fuel to flow through metered passages inside the carbs), not chokes in the traditional sense.
