do you mean remove the wheel? tires are best left to a shop to do as they have the machine. drive shaft yes? undo all bolts thru frame to final drive casing. slacken wheel nut but do not remove spindle, pull wheel back and out of the frame the drive shaft comes with it, tace out spindle and now lift final drive from wheel, there may be a spacer which might fall out. done deal..

SOURCE: where is the oil filter on my yamaha V-star 1100

On the right side of the bike (right side when ou are sitting on it) just above the rear brake lever behind a small circular plate. remove the plate and the oil filter is inside (you will easily see it). Warning---on these bikes you have to drop the front exhaust header and right floor board in order to change the oil filter unless you install a after market oil filter relocation kit. If you plan on changing your own oil it is highly recommended to install this relocation kit.

These parts are fairly reliable. Rather than buying new, you should be able to pick one up from a motorcycle breaker who will post it to you. I would expect to pay about £60-£100 tops in the UK (Depending on mileage). ANy Yamaha dealer will be happy to order you one new, but they are a hell of a price!

My 2006 Yamaha. Vstar 1100 rear cylinder fires at idle,but doesn't when riding


Hi, Rex and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a "LOAD" test, your battery may show 12.5 volts but has little or zero amps and must be replaced.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting, leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or CDI or electronic control module.
7. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
8. Faulty ignition switch.
9. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
10. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

Why is carbureter flooding front cylinder and not the rear cylinder

1. Dirt or other foreign matter between float valve and its seat.
2. Float valve sticking.
3. Float valve and/or valve seat worn or damaged.
4. Float misadjusted.
5. Float cracked, leaky or damaged.
6. Excessive "PUMPING" of hand throttle grip.

2002 yamaha v-star 1100 rear cylinder is running hot


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Engine oil level and SAE weight are too low or not circulating.
2. Insufficient or blocked air flow over the engine.
3. Heavy combustion chamber carbon deposits.
4. Ignition timing retarded due to faulty MAP, CKP, or CMP sensor.
5. Carburetor jetted too lean.
6. Leaking intake or exhaust valve.
7. Water coolant old or low change every two years.
8. Water pump failure.
9. Radiator clogged, cap loose or malfunctioning.
10. Radiator fans not coming on.
11. Clutch slipping, brakes dragging, heavy load, towing a trailer etc.
12. Idling too long without moving.
13. For constant hot weather temperatures, mountain, or desert riding conditions consider adding an oil cooler and or cylinder head cooler.

Dont know how to bleed rear brake after i put a new tire on


Pump up brakes hold them then releace bleader on rear calaper when fluid stoppes comming out sut bleeder screw Repete 2 or 3 times check master cylinder dont let it get low MOPAR KENNY

Poping out rear cyl on 99 1100 v star plug looks real lean cleand carb still does it


Do a compression check on that cylinder. You may have a burnt valve if the plug looks really lean.

Back breaks not working


Hello birddman70...sounds like you have an air trap in the system.
No fluid to the caliper or through the caliper to the bleeder? If there is no fluid at the end of the brake line then move up to the bottom of the master cylinder and check for fluid there. If no fluid there you might need a master cylinder rebuild. It's a bit tricky getting the air out of the rear cause the cylinder is lower and tiny air bubbles are slow to work their way out. I try not to open the system if the fluid level is low enough to retract the caliper. If you try to bleed again rock the bike a little before you pump the pedal to help allow the bubbles in the master cylinder surface.
