Question about 1982 Honda GL 1100 Aspencade Gold Wing
I have three Gl1000's and have never solved this problem with one of my bikes. I replaced the complete tank shroud with all the electronics between two of the bikes. On the tank shroud there is a 7 volt voltage regulator and a 4 diode pack ( one of the diodes is for the fuel gauge/temp sender). The gauges run at 7 volts. It problem may be related to either a cracked wire under the insulation of the harness. Or the contact base of the ignition switch (I had to disassemble and scrape the contacts with a pocket knife on the side of the road once to continue riding.) I know my fan is working to cool the engine when hot and the fuel gauges (the actual gauges) read differently on all three wings (Empty is usually half tank). Since i have a reserve for the fuel I do my best just to ignore the gauges since they are redundant and not necessary. However if you find the magic bullet that fixes this problem please let me know. I hope I have given you some useful information.
