It sounds like you have a dead cylinder. Without that cylinder firing, the petrol just builds up and spits out of the cylinder and into the exhaust.

Why do i keep hearing a pop pop noise

Hi, Anonymous popping or backfiring on deceleration is usually caused by a lean fuel condition or an air leak in the exhaust system and is generally located where black carbon soot is seen as a flashing build up from any joint connection. This condition can easily be remedied by removing and cleaning both joint pieces and reassembling with high temp silicone and torquing the exhaust clamp to the proper spec. Coughing is usually caused by an air leak in the intake system and will generally have the same telltale signs, a wet or damp buildup of oil/gas seepage at the intake manifold to cylinder head or carburetor to intake manifold connection and in rare instances a worn throttle plate shaft and or seals. Spitting is usually caused by a faulty accelerator pump and or nozzle, or the float bowl needle and seat leaking and overflowing through the main jet mixing well nozzle, or the air-fuel mixture screw is adjusted too lean. My 1986 virago 700 pps and spits when i give it gas wat could be causing this

Sounds like a blocked main jet caused by fuel residue..This is common after the winter or if the bike has been stood for a short time.. As the fuel evaporates it leaves a crystalline residue. You will need to strip carbs and clean jets and fuel ways with a carb cleaner.. it comes in an aerosol so its an easy job but care is needed dismantling and reassembling. don't be tempted to poke any wire or alike in the jets to clear them through.. cleaner and air only.. hope this helps.

1986 XV1100S spitting out exaust

I assume you are talking about on deceleration. This generally indicates an air leak in the exhaust system, check and reseal your flange gaskets and check any other joint in the pipe.
If exhaust is aftermarket they sometimes crackle and splutter on decel if they are poorly designed. Hope this helps. :-)

Any thoughts on 2006 Virago 250 with gas leaking out of right exhaust pipe?

Hi, Andrew and the usual suspects are:
1. Damaged or restricted fuel tank venting system.
2. Loose float bowl screws.
3. Damaged float bowl o-ring.
4. improper fuel level in the float bowl.
5. Worn or dirty inlet valve or seat.
6. Damaged or leaking float assembly.
7. Particle contamination in inlet fitting cavity.

Loses power at 4500 rpm, carbs are clean and has no intake leaks. has good sparkplugs an coils are working. front cylinder pops a blue flame consistanly after a few revolutions. exhaust seems colder on...

If your carbs and plugs are fine you may wish to check into you wiring harness to see if you have a cyclinder not firing due to a problem with wiring (frayed or disconnected).
