Question about 2007 Bajaj Pulsar 150

How could i tune my carburetor and which engine oil is better for this bike. i get millage only 40kmp. it runs only 2000km. how can i improve millage and it speed.

Lean out the carb, you do this by letting the engine idle and turning the air/fuel mixture screw until the engine starts revving up(without turning the throttle) when it revs as high as it will go by turning the air/fuel mixture screw, then lower the idle with the idle adjust knob. as for oil, most of the major companies make a 10w30 for motorcycles. if you can afford it royal purple for motorcycles is the best, but i use castrol 4t for motorcycles its a 10w30

Hi, Archie if you have changed your fuel delivery system, air filter size or flow rate, mufflers or exhaust system or a significant change in altitude your carburetors need re-tuning and if your fuel system (gas tank, filters, fuel valve and carburetor) is contaminated with ethanol sludge, varnish, rust, dirt, water etc. or your bike has been sitting for months or years without running these components must be "PROPERLY" cleaned and reassembled "CORRECTLY" before any adjustments can be made. Tuning your carburetor is fairly simple once you understand the basic principals. You engine is a simple airbox sucking air in and blowing it out, it is finely tuned at the factory for maximum performance once you upset that delicate balance by changing air filters, camshafts or exhaust systems your performance may go down the and the engine may run poorly, you need to compensate the air-fuel mixture in the carburetor in order for the engine to run smoothly and at peak performance. If you are running multi carburetors you need to sync them first and make sure your air cleaner element is clean and dry for paper elements or lightly oiled for foam and meshed elements and properly installed. Here is how and where you compensate trouble: "TIP" if your engine "BOGS" your not getting enough fuel.
1. Closed to 1/8 throttle is managed by the air screw and pilot/slow jet.
2. 1/8 to 1/4 throttle is managed by the air-screw, pilot/slow jet, and throttle slide.
3. 1/4 to 1/2 throttle is managed by the throttle slide and jet needle.
4. 1/2 to 3/4 throttle is managed by the jet needle, needle jet, main jet, and air jet.
5. 3/4 to wide open throttle is managed by the main jet and air jet.
6. Wide open throttle is managed by the main jet.
If you are running lean, spark plug electrode color is white, engine runs hot and feels like it is starving for fuel you need to go up on the jet size or move the c-clip down one notch. If you are running rich, spark plug color is black or dark gray, the engine runs cool, and bogs down when accelerating you need to go down on jet size or move the c-clip up one notch. When your carburetor is properly tuned for maximum performance your spark plug electrode will be a light tan color like coffee with cream. If you prefer fuel economy over performance you can go down on main jet sizes until a satisfactory level of lower performance is acceptable versus MPH, your spark plug color will be whiter and your engine will run warmer. These tuning adjustments will only make improvements if your intake and exhaust system have no air leaks or sealing issues and the entire electrical system is in proper working order and you have no mechanical issues.

Bike won't run smooth.

Will it improve engine proformance if I put the right oil after putting the wrong oil?


not a big difference if only a few quarts sure better than running it low most of the time the wrong oil only changes the gas millage some cars require synthetic oils they are more picky on what they have but as i said the wrong oil is better than no or low oil any day

what do you want from this bike....
millage or power.???
If want you powerful bike,then change clutch&gear system,then your bike shouldn't gives perfect millage. also change the engine's oil and use best quality oil.

Pls tell me the actual mileage after 1st servicing? and how to improve its mileage condition? the mileage is the main hedeache after purchasing Yamaha SZR..........pls. solve it...


I have not used Yamaha SZR. But I know Yamaha bikes are not popular for fuel efficiency. Although, I can say that with proper carburetor adjustment & running the bike between 50-60 kph improves the mileage a lot. I had RX-100, to which I was getting 50-57kmpl in Mumbai. People at the time weren;t getting average more than 35kmpl. It was a 2 stroke engine. I used to make the carburetor adjustment myself. When I service the bike from the service centre, the mileage was dropping by 10kmpl. So, you adjust the carburetor in such a manner that keep the idling speed at a level when the engine is just not stopping by adjusting the idling speed screw & adjust carburetor throttle screw to the smooth noise (minimum) of the engine. People used to keep engine running at traffic signal. If the signal is to change after 20-30 secs, shut off the engine. Avoid raising the throttle unnecessarily. Try to be at the top gear in optimum distance. I was using oils from Indianoil. Any other oil was dropping my mileage. Clean the Air Filter with petrol & moist it with oil once in a month. I think this may be helpful to you in achieving more mileage.

1994 yamaha fzr 600. the bike starts fine and runs ok but while riding the bike doesnt take full throttle just bogges out and wont pick up speed

If you are running multi carburetors you need to sync them first and make sure your air cleaner element is clean and dry. Here is how and where you compensate trouble:
1. Your air/fuel mixture ***** manages your idle.
2.. Your slow speed jet manages 0-1/4 throttle opening.
3. Your jet needle c-clip position manages 1/4-3/4 throttle opening.
4. Your main jet manages 3/4-wide open throttle.
If you are running lean, spark plug electrode color is white, engine runs hot and feels like it is starving for fuel you need to go up on the jet size or move the c-clip down one notch. If you are running rich, spark plug color is black or dark gray, engine runs cool, and bogs down when accelerating you need to go down on jet size or move the c-clip up one notch. When your carburetor is properly tuned for maximum performance your spark plug electrode will be a light tan color like coffee with cream. Hi, i bought HERO HONDA KARIZMA before 3months and it went through its first servicng only,and it`s pickup has reduced so much and it is giving mileage about 27-29.Thats it. I am very disappointed bec


Ask your friend do an actual milage check, not just an inexact " I get about 40mpg " as he says. What is he really getting? Driving at top speeds is better for an engine than city driving. Have the dealer do a compression check. The valves may need to be adjusted, (minor thing). If riding highway, get a larger front sprocket, i.e.13 tooth sprocket changed to a 14 tooth sprocket. This will help mpg. Driving fast is not good for mpg.

As far as owner maintenance, the best thing you can do for yourself is to ride over to the dealer to pick up a can of chain lube and ask them to give you some instructions in owner maintenance for your bike. They will be happy to show you what you can do and HOW to do it. This includes adjusting the chain. Don't be bashful. Ask questions; "How often is that needed? What do I look for? What tells me I need to bring it in? Can I get those parts here?" Build a relationship with your dealer. You will both benefit more that way than if I just tell you how to do the adjustments.
