Hiya my back brakes have new pads fitted but when riding the back brakes are locking up at the slightest touch. what do i do to correct it? thanks

As above and maybe split it and temove pistons and clean out grooves after removing the seals. clean seals and replace bleed and test. not a lot more is it can be TBH

Open rear brake resover cap ,drain some fluid out,remove brake pads,clean piston,push piston back into caliper,refit pads,pump up rear brake

Having problem with my front brake for Yamaha R1 , the brake pads are locking while am riding n it happens after about a mile. The problem started after replacing a brake lever . Any solution ?

OK.... The problem is your brake lever. There is nothing wrong with your braking system, Master Cylinder is fine, pads are fine, fluid is fine, everything is fine. Replace that brake lever with the original one your took off, if not, it will cost you your life. I know I was almost killed due to the wrong brake lever. Everything on the new lever looks right. Right? Same, pin hole size, the plunger seems to fit perfect, the brake light switch flange, it fits, appears to work fine, doesn't bind.. Then wham!! You lock up. DO NOT RIDE WITH THAT NEW LEVER ON.. No matter how expensive it was. Live with the Stock one until you can be sure that the next one you buy is absolutely and irrevically safe to ride with. This MOD is not worth your life. FYI, my lock up occurred in the dark, US 101, lane three, 80mph. 80mph to 0mph in 1 second flat. Bike did not flip just came to a massive stop. I will spare you the "Most frightening 2 minutes of my life". I have 26 years of riding experience, and one stupid mod nearly took my life, and my bike, and more importantly, could have taken someone else's life, or scarred them for life had they hit me... Just saying'.

Brake pedal pulsing

Its a combination of worped rotors and uneven braeke pad ware The whole system needs to spin vary true if you get over heating at the rotors they worp or if the last time the pads were replaced the rotors worn' t turned or replaced then the pads could not ware evenly and would over heat the rotors and they would no longer spin true . Watch out on ice or slippery condutions they tend to lock up and through you out control at the slightest touch of the brakes

How do I get the brake caliper hydrolic sleeve to go back in far enough for the caliper to fit back over the new brake pads?

Using the inside pad, remove the clip from the back of the pad. Place the pad back against the caliper in its original position and 524e65b.jpgusing a 7" C-clamp open the clamp to fit over the caliper and brake pad in the center. Then turning the screw end of the clamp slowly push the caliper back. Watch that it's going in evenly. Once the pad touched the caliper you are done. Remove the C Clamp and old pad a install you new pads.

How do i change thefront pads on my trident 900.96

Remove the caliper (brake) take note of the position of the anti-rattle spring, like a thin meatal plate on the edge of the brake pads. May be coverd with a plastic shield. Then remove the brake pin(s) they cross horizontally through the top edge of the brake pads, usually chrome or gold colour. The pads will then drop out,take note of any backing plates that may come out with the pads, as it is important that they go back right way up etc. While the pads are out inspect the brake pistons for rust,pump the brake lever once no more as the piston will come out,big nightmare !!.so be carefull. clean with soft brush ,then push back with soft metal or hard wood dont damage the rubber.The piston will resist so be patient . Once the pistons are home,smear the back of the new brake pads with copper grease match head size per pad,and reverse proses to re-fit. lock-tight caliper retaining bolts and torque to spec. PUMP BRAKE LEVER BEFORE RIDING OFF as pads will not touch disc first go.give final inspection try brakes while standing next to bike ,then gently bed them in for next 100 miles or they will glase over.

Avid juicy ultimate, rear disc brake vibration and noise

It is a lose bolt somewhere, OR somebody has touched your rotor with their hands OR there is oil in the pads.

Check ALL your bolts for correct torque, buy new pads and Rubbing Alcohol and install them AFTER you clean off the rotor and your hands with the Rubbing Alcohol. TRY not to touch the rotor or the pads with your hands.

Want to install new brake pads

Whenever servicing brakes, extreme care must be taken to ensure that the job is done correctly. Severe injury or death can result from an improperly done brake job.

To replace the rear pads, remove the two bolts that hold the caliper in the caliper bracket. Lift the caliper off and move it out of the way. Do not crimp the rear brake line. Take notice of how the pads, the stainless steel pad clips and the anti-rattle spring is positioned in the caliper bracket. Remover the old pads and brake parts. Install the new pads making sure you put the friction side of the brake pad against the rotor. Don't laugh I've seen many brake pads put in metal to metal, especially on the backside pad. Make sure the metal end clips are positioned correctly.

Now, you've got to press the piston back into the caliper so that the caliper will go down over the new pads. I usually use a large pair of slip joint pliers but a C-clamp works well. Make sure you protect the paint on your caliper. Remove the master cylinder top and watch the fluid level as you press the piston back into the caliper. Don't allow the master cylinder to overflow. Remove fluid if you have to. Once you get the piston fully pressed back into the caliper, carefully slide it into position while not knocking the pads out of their position.

Install the two bolts and carefully work the rear brake pedal until the pedal feels normal. You may have to depress the pedal a few times before it feels right. Top off the fluid level using the correct type of brake fluid. Never mix two different types of brake fluid such as DOT4 and DOT5 (US). This will cause problems in the future as they do not mix.

Before riding the bike, check for proper brake operation. When you do test ride the bike, test the brakes before you reach a speed of over ten miles per hour. Remember, it's you that is going to ride the bike first. Make sure you do this job correctly.

Yes you have a bad caliper, if the car is ABS equipped try to take it to a brake specialist, the system is pressure charged.

Chrysler Voyager 2001 rear brake system

Take it back to the dealer who fixed it.
Driving with the rear brakes locked may have warped the rotors. Blue color is from excessive heat. Sounds like a preportioning valve in the brake system is faulty.
The dealer didn't do his job very well. Find another dealer.

make sure they are the correct ones by matching them up to the old ones and is so then you need to press the piston in to allow room for the new brake-pads

Saab 93 - noisy when going over bumps on the road.

Have you tried driving over a bump whilst also applying the brakes? (Right foot on gas, left gently on brake - with no one behind you!) If the noise goes away, then it could be the brake pads that are not fitted correctly. Only posting this, as this just happened to mine...the mechanic took it over bumps and noise was there. Applied brakes whilst going over bump, noise went away. Replaced badly fitted rear pads (had been bodged by another garage) and the problem was solved.
