You can...but not for long. The air filter keeps the fine particles from entering the carb and combustion chamber. Even a small hole will let in fine gritty material that acts like sand paper inside your carb and engine. It won't be long before your carb becomes plugged, worn and you will have to have a ring job and bore out. Much cheaper to cough up the $$ for a new air filter now than big $$$$ for a carb job or engine rebore. Keep the shiny side up and right hand cranked.

My 1981 Liftback TE-72 corolla, it is carburetor fed, It starts most of the times but revs very low when foot is off accelerator and stalls most of the time, ii can start with accelerator flat to the...

I do not think your car has a throttle position sensor. Yours should have just an old school carburetor. This sounds more like the engine is out of time, or the air filter is stopped up. Check the distributor cap and rotor button for carbon cracks, or worn contacts, check your spark plugs and wires. Check the spark timing. It could be a stuck choke butterfly. Take the air filter cover off and see if the top butterfly is opening and open it up with a pencil see if that helps.

Is it possible to lower the rear ride height on an 03 envoy xl by moving the air ride accuators?

If you can lower the actuators without damaging them, it should work. The ride height should drop the same amount that the actuators are lowered. Don't go too low or you will bottom out the air shocks.
