Bike over heats. Cooling fan doesnt come on. where should i start? fuses all seem to be alright. 84 honda shadow 500. Thank you. Seth from Utah

1986 Honda VT 500 C Shadow tail light not working

Hi, Anonymous tail light issues are relatively easy to diagnose and repair always check the tail light fuse first and make sure you have power on both sides of the fuse holder and the usual suspects are:
1. Tail light bulb element is broken.
2. Tail light bulb soldered contacts are extremely worn down.
3. Tail light bulb socket corroded.
4. Tail light bulb socket has no power and or ground.
5. Tail light wiring harness damaged from the rear tire.
6. Tail light rear fender wiring harness connector faulty due to corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets.

The fuse at the solenoide is also ok ?. Do you have 12 volts going to the fuse box 1side of the fuse, at the rectifier plug that conects it to the harnes, you should have 2 reds12 volt live

1984 VT 500 C Shadow: 1983 honda shadow -starts and runs, seems to miss ...

The fuel filter is in the tank on the petcock and is self cleaning. I suspect you have bad spark plug caps on your bike the cap is part of the wire. If you remove the wire and take a reading with an ohm meter, the cap should read 5000 ohms . Anything above or below and you should replace the cap. This is probably causing the slight miss.

We have a 1986 honda shadow 1100, it cuts out when sitting in traffic, warm weather seems to effect this as it doesnt do it as much when its cold, we have just had the jets changed as the wrong ones were...

I would check charging system for proper performance, a bad volt reg. could cause increase in engine temp. does cooling fan come on and go off like it should.

from what you are describing the fan is drawing too much power, check to make sure there is nothing else connected to the circuit,

1983 Honda Shadow 500- Gets hot and won't crank back.

Your honda shadow 500 over heats,because the oil cant room around the engine of the bike.the problem is the worn out destroyed oil seal .Check and replace the oil seal of your bike.
