2011 FLHTCU brakes


Hi Anonymous, I read some where Harley had an issue with some master cylinder rubber components, put a new rebuild kit in master cylinder, also brake lines inner liners have been known to collapse. Good luck

Cluch has no pressure i need to know how to refill the trany


Try CHECKING AND refilling the master cylinder for the clutch on the firewall under the hood, it looks like a small brake master cylinder tank. Here is a picture of the Clutch Hydraulic Master cylinder. The plastic tank can be black as well. If the tank is full go under the truck on the driver side and check the clutch Slave cylinder to make sure the rod coming out of it is attached to the clutch release arm. Here is a picture of the slave cylinder.
SLAVE CYLINDER IS 1ST PICTURE, MASTER IS 2ND.

95 f150 brake pedal just started going almost to the floor to stop.


hi this means you have an air leak in the system, something is leaking, could be the master cylinder or a rear wheel cylinder, to check if its the master cylinder, look under the dash where the brake peddle is ans see if it is wet or damp, also look in the engine bay where the survo is and see if it is dripping or damp around that area, to see if the rear wheel cylinders are leaking look under the truck at the rear of the wheels they will be either dark and damp and oily, or dry and dusty if not leaking, if leaking you need to replace the one that is...hope this helps

How do you replace the front and rear brakes in a 2003 pontiac Grand Prix


Removal & Installation Front To Remove:
  1. Inspect the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir. Remove fluid from the reservoir until the level is lower then half way between the MAX and MIN levels.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Install 2 wheel nuts to secure the rotor on the hub.
  4. Remove the bottom brake caliper pin bolt.
  5. Pivot the brake caliper body upward and secure out of the way. Do NOT disconnect the hydraulic brake flexible hose from the caliper.
  6. Compress the piston back into the bore using a C-clamp. Figure of brake assembly with caliper raised showing brake pads in mounting bracket gmpc_l4.gif

  7. Remove the inboard and outboard brake pads from the brake caliper bracket.
To Install:
  1. Install the brake pad retainers and both brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  2. Pivot the brake caliper down over the brake pads and into the brake caliper bracket. Insert the lower brake caliper pin bolt and torque bolt to 70 ft-lb. (95 Nm).
  3. Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Refill the master cylinder. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the pads against the rotor.
  6. Check the master cylinder level and add fluid as necessary.
Rear To Remove:

  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  3. Install 2 wheel nuts to secure the rotor on the hub.
  4. Remove the upper caliper mounting bolt.
  5. Pivot the caliper down to access the pads.
  6. Remove the inboard and outboard pads from the caliper bracket.
  7. Remove the brake pad clips from the caliper bracket.
  8. Compress the piston back into the bore using a C-clamp and the old inner pad.
To Install:
  1. Install new brake clips in the caliper bracket.
  2. Install the inboard and outboard pads in the caliper bracket.
  3. Pivot the caliper up over the pads.
  4. Reinstall the upper mounting bolt and tighten to 32 ft. lbs. (44 Nm).
  5. Remove the 2 wheel nuts securing the rotor.
  6. Reinstall the tire and wheel assembly.
  7. Refill the master cylinder. Pump the brake pedal several times to seat the pads against the rotor.
  8. Check the master cylinder level and add fluid as necessary.

If your brake light is staying on, it's due to one of the two switches are made. You have one switch for the front brake and one for the rear brake. It could be either switch making the light stay on.

Odds are it's the front brake switch. Start off by making sure the front brake master cylinder assembly is tight against the throttle assembly switch housing. Loosen the bolts that hold either the master cylinder or the throttle switch housing and move the two assemblies as close together as possible.

If this doesn't work, you will need a DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) to test the switches. Test the rear brake switch first as it's the easiest to get to. Remove the wires from the switch, put your DVOM in the lowest resistance range you have. Touch the probes of the meter to the brake switch wire connections. With no pressure on the rear brake pedal, you should show no continuity, infinite ohms. When you depress the pedal, you do show continuity, zero ohms. If this checks correctly, the front switch is the culprit.

If you show continuity or zero ohms and the rear pedal is not depressed, you could have problems with the rear master cylinder not bleeding the pressure off the rear brake. Loosen the brake line right where it comes out of the rear master cylinder and see if the light goes out. If so, your rear master cylinder needs rebuilding.

I replaced a master cylinder on a 2001 taurus and bench bled the master cylinder before putting it on the car. then bled the 2 lines at the master cylinder and i am getting air out of the front line on...


try disconnecting the front line, have someone else then step on the brake pedal and hold it down while you re-install the line. If that doesn't do it, you probably did get a defective master cylinder.

ALL YOU CAN DO IS FLUSH WITH CLEAN FLUID PUMP AND BLEED NOTE: ALWAYS START FROM THE FURTHEST WHEEL FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER AND WORK YOU WAY BACK. SOME TIMES YOU CAN OPEN THE LINES WITH COMPRESSED AIR WHEN YOU DISCONNECT ALL THE LINES FROM THE CYLINDERS

How to change a master cylinder on 99 e250


i do agree with the haynes manual.

First off, pb blaster is your best friend for brake line bolts. You want to **** as much of the brake fluid out of the resivour as you can, Then you need to get the brake lines off the master cylinder that is on there. make sure you use the right size flare nut wrench when you are taking the lines off. rounding off brake line bolts is not fun, trust me. once the lines are off, ( turn counter clockwise) Just make sure you have a towel to put under the brake lines. for excess fluid. then with a ratchet, and extension, and socket you need to take the master off the brake booster. Also disconnect any electrical connectors and keep them clear ofthe brake fluid. When you have the 2 bolts out of the brake booster, the master should pull out and then your ready to work on installing the new one. when you get a new ,master, you can either bench bleed it, or if you want to, you can also install the new one, line up the hole in the brake booster, put the 2 bolts back on, then you need to bleed the master. Most come with instructions.
  1. Begin by removing the cap.
  2. Follow the directions that come with the kit to select the suitable adapters, and then connect the adapters and tubes to the ports on the cylinder. The other ends of the tube extend down into the master cylinder, and are held in place by a plastic clip.
  3. With the bleeder kit installed, fill the master cylinder about halfway with new brake fluid. Use a large screwdriver to depress the valve assembly inside the master cylinder. If you do not have a vise you can mount the master cylinder on the vacuum brake booster and bleed the master cylinder.
  4. Small bubbles will appear in the fluid. Continue working the valve assembly until no more bubbles appear. This indicates that the cylinder has been thoroughly bled.
once it is bled then you hook up the brake lines, and bleed all the brakes. starting with the furthest from the master cylinder. Passenger rear, driver rear, passenger front, driver front. make sure you check the brakes to make sure there is no air, better to be safe then sorry. also, check anything you had disconnected, to make sure it is not leaking.

In simple terms, by just looking at it, you can figure out how to do the master cylinder, but to be safe, get a repair manual.

brake pads from other manufacturers ( Ferrodo and bendix) will fit
modern master cylinders have a special finish in the cylinder so reconditioning and new rubbers are generally not advisable
the best fix is a new replacement master cylinder and they are available at any professional brake and clutch shop
