Question about kawasaki KZ 1300 A4 Motorcycles

1 and 4 cylinder does not have spark and 2 and 3 does. Both the coils are good working coils. What should I check for? This for a kawaski kz1100. It was not listed.

Probably one of the plugs are bad,

2007 Hyosung GT250R front cylinder no spark


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery should have 12.5 volts or more and be able to pass a proper "LOAD" test if necessary, you may have a preliminary reading of 12.5 volts or more but little or zero amperage the battery is faulty and must be replaced, AGM batteries fail in this scenario more so than lead acid batteries.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting/leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty pulse coil.
8. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
9. Faulty ignition switch.
10. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
11. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

My 1994 cavalier lost spark to cylinders 1 and 4. Which components are directly related to ignition spark and timing? What about the camshaft sensor?


You listed all the components involved in spark timing and control- coil, ignition module, pcm, wires, plugs, crank sensor, and cam sensor.
Cylinders 1 and 4 have the same coil for both, so concentrate on that coil. You still have a good blue spark on cylinders 2 and 3? If you have spark there, I don't know about the cam sensor-I think it would be good if it works at all. You need to check if you have 12 volts power to the coil for 1 and 4.

2010 kawaski brute force atv spitting and sputtering


spray some carb&choke cleaner in the intake while revving it up. if it smooths out then it is a fuel problem. if not most likely in the ignition system (spark plug, wires, or ignition coil) judging by the fact that it idles fine it sound like a coil. ( this next section risks you getting shocked but you wont be harmed, mostly just surprised and a little pain.. ouch) listen for a distinct click sound of a spark. if you can hear this follow the sound and look for the spark. you can also spray the wires with water to see if they will "leak" voltage from the insulation. you can disconnect the coil wire from the coil and hold it close to the coil where the coil wire attaches to the coil and start the engine. with it idling you should be able to pull the coil wire away about a quarter of an inch or more and see a bright blue spark. if the spark is red than the coil is weak. while doing this test hold the wire close to the coil but far enough that you can see the spark and rev the engine like you would when it would sputter. if the spark seems to stop occasionally or gets dim and red then replace the coil. if none of these things happens then reconnect the coil wire and check all cylinders with this test.

If your getting a P0302 ( cylinder #2 misfire detected), the first thing to check is the spark plug. If it's new then the next thing to check is the plug wire. If it has individual coils, then swap it out with another one and see if the misfire moves too. If so then the coil is faulty.

yes. this coil pack uses the waste spark method, and fires 2 cylinders simutaniously. when when goes down, you will lose the sister cylinders. good luck!

Most likely the driver in the computer,that means the computer will have to be replaced,just check the connection at the computer to make sure it is good ,and tight,if it is,the computer will have to be replaced to repair the problem,sorry,If this was helpful,at all please rate,thank you.

Spark on only 2 of the 4 cylinders


On dis ignition systems if you have an open circuit plug wire you will lose spark on both cylinders of the coil. So however you are checking for spark,(screwdrivers or spark testers) Check cylinders 1 and 4 at the same time. A good way to eliminate the possibility of a bad plug wire is to take both wires off the coil and start the engine. Spark should jump from the coil tower to the coil mounting bolts. If it doesn't replace the ignition module.

Hello enjoy42. From the information you have provided I would lean to the weak cylinder coil. Unplug the good spark plug wire & test run the engine on the weak cylinder. You could go to swapping the coils on the cylinders. Check your wiring terminals on the coils. Check with a marine dealer for the correct plug. I owned a 35 Evinrude on a Bass boat & it would out run my buddys 40 Mercury. Good Fishing.
