Question about 2002 Suzuki VL 800 Volusia

1 Answer

Have a 2002 Suzuki VL800, the person I purchased it from had bought as a salvage bike. You can see that it was layed down on it's left side, scratches on windshield, clutch lever bent, chrome cover plate scratched. I do not know what he replaced before I purchased. Ok, the problem I'am having is intermitent, but seems to be increasing in occurance. When I park it and go to shut it off, there is a loud ping sound, sound metal in nature, like a dagger is coming up through the seat. Could this be with the starter or??? Thank-you for any help !!

That sound is the starter, and it's totally normal. No worries!

I have had my VL800 for 6 years and get it all the time and hundreds of members from www.volusiariders.com also report it as normal.

2003 VL800 Volusia Motorcycle. It will run fine for a good distance then start missing and bogging down. Once in a while it will actually stall. Normally this lasts for a few minutes then the bike will...

This is not a solution just a observation you may have water in the fuel tank that at times being that water of course is a liquid and is not stationary is finding its way from your tank into your fuel system.
Pass that thought on to your mechanic.

How many quarts of oil does the Suzuki VL800 take?

Engine oil Capacity:

With filter change: 3.6 U.S Quarts (3,400 ml)
Without Filter Change: 3.2 U.S Quarts (3,000ml)

Note: This bike does not have a dipstick, but a sight-glass on the right side of the crankcase. To get an accurate estimate of the oil level, the bike must also be level and not on the side stand.

Can't find dip stick to check oil on suzuki motorcycle c90t

There is no dipstick on suzuki . Stand beside your bike and look on the bottom right side of your crankcase . look for a little site glass window . That is how you
check . if the oil is half way up the glass when you stand bike straight up . . change every 3000, plus filter
