Question about 2006 Harley Davidson XL 1200 C Sportster Custom

I have a 2006 XL 1200 C Sportster Custom I replace the rear stop light switch four times this year it only last a few weeks. please help? Doug Lightle

Did you get the switch directly from harley davidson ? some aftermarket switches are ****.or,you may have a pinched wire somewhere causing it to short out.

Rebuiling timing gears in a 2006 sportster 1200 xlc. Need a picture or reference for gear replacement and cam position

The cams are numbered 1 through 4 starting at the rear going towards the front. The new oil pumps do not have to be timed like the '76 and earlier models did. Install #1 cam, install #3 and #4 cams and time them with each other then install the #2 timing it with the pinion gear, the #1 and the #3 cam.

Drive pulley bolt torque


I am assuming you're talking about the rear sprocket mounting bolts on the rear wheel. Laced (spoked) wheel - 45-55 foot pounds. Cast wheel, 55-65 foot pounds.

It sounds like the ignition switch might be bad. Test the ignition switch for power to the ignition side.
