Thanks for the information but I don't know what the brushes are. This is my first motorcycle and I actually know very little about it.

I would try charging the battery. Take it off and put it on a slow trickle charge overnight. Batteries usually only last 3-4 years if it is an acid battery.

2001 buell cyclone was ridden 100 miles 3 weeks ago,now it just buzzes...not turning over, just a buzzing sound..when i hit the starter button...battery is charged, but everything shuts off when i hit the...

The battery IS DEAD. The buzzer is the starter solenoid not getting enough juice to close the contact inside itself. Check your battery connections and make sure they are TIGHT, charge the battery and see if it helps, if not - you need another battery or a shop to help diagnose the bike.

Would a bad battery cause a vehicle to shut down while in motion?

If the vehicle has a good charging system, you can put a BAD battery in it, jump start it and run run run. Just wont be able to start it again without a jump. If the vehicle has a bad charging system, you can put a new battery in it, and it will only run till the battery dies. And the vehicle will die while in motion.
Hope this helps..

Power poblem

check to see if its charging as you ride,, Keep in mind that Harleys hate start and stops,, once you start them they draw alot of power from the battery,, and should be ridden for a long time to recharge the battery ,, with the post connections hooked up, use a volt meter to check the charging,, it should read between 13-15 volts ,, if not you have a regulator problem

Battery drained while riding

Sounds like you either have corroded wires going to your battery or your alternator is not properly charging the battery. Get the bike to an autozone and ask them to put their tester on it.

please mark this as a fizya! thanks

Bad battery

Don't rely on on whether the bike will start at a gas station to determine if the charging system is working. Get the multimeter out and do a proper test. Should be getting about 14.5 volts @ around 3K RPM. It's too easy of a test to to just skip. If it is charging then start looking for something else. Was the new battery properly charged to begin with? Loose battery connection? I suppose the GPS could be too much but you said that it was dying last november, so I would suspect something else. P.S. you need a properly charged battery to get an accurate reading for the charging test.
