First make sure that the device is indicating that the battery is being charged or that the battery is fully charged. this is indicated on the menu screen by the battery icon as being 4 bars of full green color.
if the unit will not charge in your vehicle, you might need to replace the fuse that is located at the tip of the vehicle adapter.
1. to change the fuse unscrew the black, round end piece on the vehicle power adapter and remove it. inspect the fuse to see if it is blown. If not end here.
2. if determined the fuse is blown remove the fuse (glass and silver cylinder), and replace it with a 1A fast blow fuse.
3.ensure that the silver tip is placed in the black end piece. screw on the black end piece
if the fuse isn't blown and the unit still wont charge you may have received a usb cable with your Garmin Nuvi. If you didnt recieve one any mini usb cable should do. On this model you can connect the Nuvi to a computer using a usb cable. And see if you can charge your unit through this method. *Note* that the computer must be on for the unit to be able to be charged.
If you can charge your Nuvi unit on the computer then you may have something wrong with your cars adapter. I doubt this is the problem however if the unit is able to be turned on.
If you cannot charge the unit via a car adapter (with working fuse) or a USB cable. The most likely problem is the battery is no longer accepting a charge. On the listed unit a Garmin Nuvi 265 the battery is not user replaceable. So you would have to contact Garmin to get the battery changed or see if there is a local battery store that is able to change a battery on this model unit.

I dont see why you only rated the solution 2 thumbs up. You didnt even respond with a comment or what happened when you tried the solution. If you could provide us with feedback on the problem or if you solved it or if you didnt solve it. We can still help you with your product. I think on the input that was given to us being "the unit wont stay on unless plugged in" we have provided you with a means and outlet to diagnose the problem. Which should be more then a 2 thumbs up rating.

My back lite will not stay on when pluged in to outlet

is it gfci outlet? If so, you might have too much plugged into the outlet. If everything else in same outlet works, check fuse in backlight.
Does it work in another outlet? if so, reset the gfci. If you still have trouble popping gfci, you might need to replace the outlet.

My tv has a problem staying on and sometimes it turns it self off and turns it self back on and has become more frequent with turning it self off

Check the electrical outlet which the tv is plugged into. Make sure nothing is loose at the outlet as well as on the back of the tv where the power cable plugs in.
Another thing to try is plug a different device into that same electrical outlet and see if it turns on/off as well. If that device also turns on/off by itself, it could be a faulty outlet.

Power will not stay on to VIP 211 receiver

Hi! This is Matt Gonzales with DISH Network. When a receiver will not stay powered on properly, and you have tried unplugging it and also plugging it into a different outlet, the reciever will need to be replaced. When a receiver is on properly the green light should stay steady

When I plug my freezer to an outlet not gfi protected it works fine, but when I plug it into an outlet that is gfi protected it pops the breaker. I dont understand why.

All fridge and freezers should be plugged into an NON-GFCI protected outlet, since the inital start of the compressor can cause the GFCI to detect a millivolt surge, when the compressor starts, causing the GFCI to trip.

If this is in a kitchen, you should change out the outlet to a non-GFCI outlet BUT only to a single outlet that only has the freezer plugged into.

If it's in a basement, garage, or some other place with a GFCI outlet, you can change out that one outlet to a standard single outlet device of which ONLY the freezer will be plugged into and remain code compliant. You will need to make sure that any other outlets served by that current GFCI outlet stay protected, by installing the GFCI you swap out, and put it in place of the NEXT outlet in the circuit.

By doing that, you will have the first outlet that was the GFCI, now a single outlet NON-GFCI serving the freezer, but the next outlet in the branch circuit gets a GFCI outlet, thus protecting the rest of the circuit, in compliance with the NEC (National Electric Code)

If you need further help with this, please comment back and I'll check back later and provide you more detailed info. Of course, be sure to turn off the breaker to this circuit before making any changes to the outlets, etc.

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

CIGARETTE LIGHTER DOES NOT WORK

Figure out if it is the lighter or the outlet itself. Push the lighter down, if it stays down, but doesn't get hot and pop back out it is in the outlet,if it doesn't stay down it's the lighter~ double check this by plugging something else like a cell phone charger into it.If you have no juice~ Look for a burnt out fuse( easy cheap fix), if you can't find one you should replace the outlet.
