The clutch fluid reservoir went dry I refilled and bled the air out now my bike doesn't want to downshift passed third gear once I get to fourth and need to downshift at stops.

Hi, Anonymous I would recommend bleeding it again and doing a proper clutch adjustment for this scenario you will need your service/owners manual if you can't find the first and best tool you ever bought for your Suzuki, despair not, for a mere $10 you can download another one. My autostick chysler 300M will not manually downshift

That may be a safety feature, Ron - it SHOULD refuse to downshift if downshifting would cause excessively high engine RPMs.

I think that the problem will be in the transmission control module.

Question: Car has become extremely hard to shift into gear. Is harder to downshift. What is the first thing(s) to check?

Check that your clutch is adjusted properly. Your description indicates you may not be fully disengaging. You would grind into reverse, as all of the other gears would be synchronized. Do not delay as you are destroying the synchronizing rings if you have this condition.

I have a 2000 intruder 1500lc. starts fine runs on idol. than the idol speeds up and than speeds up more. I changed the gas and put in some sea foam. thought it might be bad gas. it back fires and runs...

hi, first thing to do is identify if all the exhausts are hot when the engine has been running for a minit or two, probably the backfireing you are hearing is at least one of the spark plugs has become contaminated with fuel and as a result the engine is not running properly on that cylinder, the backfire will be the exsess fuel igniteing as the plug becomes warm and then fires, it may also be that the fuel has become contaminated, causing a varnishing effect within the float chamber, thus blocking or restricting the fuel flow through the main jet, the machine would run on primary jet and of course the choke jet, but would fail to respond on throttle opening through the main jet, try drain old fuel from float bowls, hope this helps welcome to the motorcycling world, the more you learn about the machine you ride, the more you will enjoy rideing it, paul edwards

2000 Ford Explorer A/T downshifts unexectedly

The vacuum modulator on the side of the transmission has a leak (rubber diaphragm inside has ruputred. ($15 AutoZone).
Or other major vacuum leak (hose to the modulator may had come off or brittle, or clogged, or broken.

The downshifting is now being done by the "mechanical backup" to the vacuum system

Hope this helps!

Backfire on downshifting

Slightly rich mixture can cause fuel to run into exhaust and cause "popping" on rundown.
Won't cause any problems other than fuel economy and at worst( if extremely bad ) early exhaust failure.
Just turn the fuel mixture down a little.
