It sounds to me like you may have a bad volume control switch. Unless you are good at unsoldering and soldering, I would suggest you have it repaired by a professional. Either that or see if you can find a replacement face at a pawnshop or something like that.
This is different on every stereo, but generally the RCA ports in the back of the stereo are labeled "Aux" or something to that extent.
First, you must purchase a headphone jack to RCA cable which can connect to both your stereo and your ipod.
Connect the cable, turn your ipod on and start playing a song. Turn the volume on the stereo to a moderate volume so you can hear when the song is being played through your stereo. Then, using the selector switch, turn the stereo from "Radio" to "Aux" or whatever it says next to the the RCA plug ins on the back.
Check fuses. There are two fuses to this stereo. One that hold memory for the clock and stereo preset buttons and one for turning the stereo on. There are usually two fuse boxes, on inside the vehicle and one under the hood near the car's battery. Again, check ALL fuses. One is usually labeled for the radio/stereo, the other is not.
As for the CD changer, disconnect one of the main car battery terminals for several minutes. This is easier then removing the changer and acts as a reset. Possibley bringing the changer back to working condition. Otherwise, this could be a repair issue, see www.carstereohelp.com
this probably isnt it but my stereo got messed up like that because i think i turned it up and down way to much. maybe try pulling the volume button out and putting it back in.
My first suggestion is to not purchase "used" electronics from eBay. I bought the same kind of unit from eBay... and mine is broken too. I got a cell phone, car stereo, and a remote.. they were all not working properly when I received them.
Did you try the restart button. It is a small, pin size button on the right-side of the unit near the 4-way select buttons. My player wouldn't eject a cd either, and when I pushed the restart button with a pin, the cd ejected and the unit was ok for playing cds... that's about it
Maybe the owners manual would help. It says you can adjust the sensitivity of the AUX input through a menu. It sounds like the AUX sensitivity is just set to max. Look for the 'to change other settings' chapter, instructions are in there. If you don't have the manual, find it on the official website. http://www.clarion.com/us/en/products/2005/audio/source_units/cd/DXZ555MP/us-en-product-pf_1133851137392.html The link to download it is on the upper right.
