There will be a small line marked "T" on the flywheel that will be seen through the timing hole .
You can make certain by placing a pencil or similar down the spark plug hole and moving the flywheel. the piston will push the pencil to its highest point at TDC

1993 4.3 top dead center marks

Wow! I did not know that 1993 had a top dead center! Okay, so 1993 had between 365 and 366 days in it, so divide 365.5 by two, and you get 182.75 days. My guess it it would fall in June or July! Do you agree? That would be very close to 1993's dead center! And weather-wise, it would be close to the top, when it came to desirable weather. So, there is your answer! The top dead center of 1993 was right around July 1, 1993, give or take 3 days!

How to get number 1 cylinder top dead center when motor is not running on a gmc 4.3 1991

With truck off, you can turn the crankshaft nut from bottom of engine. To bring to top dead center. Remove #1 plug and insert a straw or similar into plug hole on top of piston. When the piston just starts to go back down from all the way up, that's top dead center, The number one cylinder in the 4.3 V-6 is the front wire on the driver-side of the engine. God-Bless!

How do I find top dead center on all three

You only need to find top dead center on number one cylinder. Remove the spark plug, insert a stiff wire. As soon as the wire start to go down, reverse the way you turn the crankshaft, just abit. this is top dead center.

How do you know which valves should be open/ closed (BTDC/ATDC) on which cylinder in the head of a 4g64 sohc head to put the head in time with the crank

All of the valves in the number one cylinders should be closed when the engine marks line up at TDC (top dead center). BTDC= before top dead center, ATDC = after top dead center.

Is it top dead center or bottom

Top dead center and bottom dead center also known as ( TDC) and (BDC) Are two different positions of the piston while an engine is running. TDC is where the piston is as high as it can go in the cylinder and BDC is as low as the piston can go in the cylinder.

Ignition timing should be set at 10 degrees BTDC (before top dead center), with vacuum advance hose disconnected and plugged, engine idling at 800 rpm or less.
